Education

2001: MGIMO

In 2001 he graduated from the Moscow State Institute of International Relations, qualification: economist.

Career

2001: Work in the private private equity sector

In 2001-2011 - worked in the direct private investment sector in Russia, managing investments of international and Russian financial organizations (Delta Private Equity - US-Russian investment fund; Alfa Group is the largest private consortium in Russia) in various sectors of the economy.

2011: RDIF Director

In 2011-2013 - Director, member of the Management Board and member of the Investment Committee in the Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF). He was responsible for investments in health care, energy saving, the raw materials sector, as well as for the creation of the Russian-Chinese Investment Fund with a capital of $2 billion.

2014: General Director of the Fund for the Development of the Far East and the Baikal Region

Since October 2014, he has been the head of the Far East and Baikal Region Development Fund JSC (appointed by the Vnesheconombank Supervisory Board - the sole shareholder of the Fund).

He is a member of the Government Commission on Socio-Economic Development of the Far East.

2016: RusHydro

Since June 27, 2016, he joined the Board of Directors of PJSC RusHydro.

2020: Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic

On November 9, 2020, it became known that Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin submitted to the State Duma the candidacy of Alexei Chekunkov for the post of Minister for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic.

On November 10, 2020, Alexei Chekunkov was appointed Minister of the Russian Federation for the Development of the Far East and the Arctic. The corresponding Decree was signed by President RFVladimir Putin and entered into force on the day of its signing.
