2000-2013
From 2000 to 2006 he served as Production Director and First Deputy General Director of Vyborg Shipyard.
From 2006 to 2009 - Deputy General Director, General Director of Nevsky Shipbuilding and Ship Repair Plant OJSC.
From 2009 to 2011 - Deputy General Director of Admiralty Shipyards OJSC.
From 2011 to 2013 - Acting General Director of the Baltic Shipyard Yantar OJSC.
In 2013, Alexander Konovalov took the position of director for the production [[Baltic Plant, which specializes in construction of icebreakers and civilian ships.
2024: Appointment as CEO of the Baltic Plant
In April 2024, JSC Baltic Plant"" (part of United Shipbuilding Corporation"," USC) announced a change in CEO. He was appointed Alexander Konovalov instead, Yuri Gordienkov who led the enterprise since May 2023.
According to a RBC source at one of the USC enterprises, Gordienkov leaves "of his own free will."

Another source of the publication says that the top manager "with a high degree" is likely to receive a position in the St. Petersburg Central Design Bureau of Mechanical Engineering (CCBM), which is part of Rosatom's Atomenergomash.
Before heading the Baltic Plant, Alexander Konovalov worked for him as production director. In the publication of RBC, it is noted that the new head of the Baltzavod is a professional shipbuilder.[1]
