Mikhail Cherevko was born on February 28, 1984 in the city of Taiga, Kemerovo Region.

Education

In 2006, he graduated with honors from Tomsk Polytechnic University with a degree in Oil and Gas Drilling. At the same time, he remotely passed the master's program of Heriot Watt University with a degree in Oil Engineering.

In 2007, he received a diploma with honors in the specialty "Translator in the field of professional communication" from Tomsk Polytechnic University.

In 2015, Mikhail Cherevko defended his thesis on "Optimization of the system of horizontal wells and fractures in the development of ultra-low-permeability reservoirs." In 2016, he received the degree of candidate of technical sciences.

He is the author and co-author of more than 10 scientific articles published in professional industry publications. The works are devoted to the application of the technology of multi-stage hydraulic fracturing of formations and horizontal wells in the fields of Western Siberia.

Career

2006-2012

Since 2006, Mikhail Cherevko has worked in the structure of Gazpromneft-Noyabrskneftegaz. He went from a process engineer to the head of the geological department. Until June 2012, he headed the geology unit at Gazpromneft-Muravlenko.

In 2012, he moved to work as chief geologist - deputy general director at Gazpromneft-Khantos LLC.

2016-2018

Since March 2016, he was Chief Engineer - First Deputy General Director of Gazpromneft-Khantos LLC, and since February 2018, he temporarily served as General Director of the company.

In July 2018, he was appointed General Director of PJSC Slavneft-Megionneftegaz (a joint venture of Rosneft and Gazprom Neft).

2025: Appointment as CEO of Tomskneft

In mid-September 2025, it became known that Mikhail Cherevko was appointed to the post of General Director of Tomskneft VNK. In this position, he replaced Andrei Ryazanov, who headed the company after the departure of its former head Alexander Afonin at the end of July 2025.

The changes in the leadership of Tomskneft were announced on the Telegram channel by the mayor of Strezhevoy, Valery Denichenko. According to him, with the arrival of the new general director, radical changes in the activities of the enterprise are not expected, and all social programs will be preserved. Drilling, production and repair volumes are not planned to be reduced.

Cherevko previously served as general director of PJSC Slavneft-Megionneftegaz (a joint venture between Gazprom Neft and Rosneft). He was also the head of OOO Nefteservice Solutions.

The main activities of JSC Tomskneft VNK are exploration and development of oil and gas fields, oil refining, as well as the production and sale of petroleum products. The company works in the Tomsk region and the Khanty-Mansiysk Autonomous Okrug - Ugra. The company holds 32 licenses for subsoil use for geological study, exploration and production of hydrocarbons in these regions. The Tomskneft website says that its activities cover an area of ​ ​ about 42 thousand square kilometers. The main distinguishing feature of the commercial geography is the significant remoteness of the deposits and the long distances between them. Some of the objects are located in the hard-to-reach Vasyugansk swamps.[1]
