Death in Switzerland

My father was a big life and lived a big life. Thanks to him for everything, for what he created, for what he was. This happened today not at home, in Switzerland. He left in full consciousness, pacified, a little sad about us and about life, but still relieved - in recent months he was seriously ill, - wrote the son of Dmitry Zimin Boris on his Facebook page . |
Dmitry Zimin was married to Maya Zimina (Shakhmatova). He is survived by his son Boris and six grandchildren.[1]
Leaving life with euthanasia
In early March 2025, it became known that the founder of VimpelCom (beeline brand) and the Dynasty Foundation (included in the register of NPO-foreign agents and liquidated) Dmitry Zimin passed away with euthanasia. The procedure was carried out in Switzerland.
Zimin died on December 22, 2021 at the age of 88. The farewell ceremony was held in Tel Aviv in the building of Tel Aviv University, and the ashes were buried in Cyprus. Before his death, the businessman was struggling with a serious cancer.
The fact that Zimin passed away through euthanasia, according to Forbes, is stated in Vera Krichevskaya's film "Loved Ones," dedicated to the businessman. This film is presented as part of the Artdokfest documentary film festival in Riga. Journalist Bozena Rynska, who was present at the screening of the film, also wrote about euthanasia Zimina:
I immediately almost knew that Dmitry Borisovich [Zimin] passed away with euthanasia, but did not write about it - I considered it an inappropriate reason. |
In Switzerland, so-called active euthanasia is prohibited - when a death-causing drug is administered to a patient by a doctor or other third-party person. But at the same time, the provision of funds for committing suicide is legal - provided that the action directly resulting in death is committed by the person himself who wants to die. The laws in force in Switzerland allow assistance in voluntary euthanasia to foreigners who are not citizens of the country, which led to the emergence of the phenomenon of "suicidal tourism." It is a crime to incite or promote suicide out of selfish motives. In addition, a police investigation can be launched when a statement is made to facilitate suicide.[2]
