Was born on February 12, 1970 in the settlement of Poyarkovo of Mikhaylovsky district of the Amur region.

In 1992 graduated from the Blagoveshchensk state medical institute (since 1996 - AGMA - the Amur State medical academy of the Russian Ministry of Health) in "medical case".

From 1992 to 1999 worked in Poyarkovsky central district hospital at positions of the therapist and neurologist.

In 2005 it was elected the deputy of the Legislative thought of Khabarovsk Krai, LDPR faction.

From 2005 to 2011 was a coordinator of the Khabarovsk regional department of LDPR.

In 2005 became the chief of the Far East branch of State examination of projects of Emercom of Russia.

2007: State Duma

In 2007 it was elected the deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federation of the fifth convocation, LDPR faction. Was the vice-chairman of the State Duma Committee on affairs of Federation and regional policy.

In 2011 it was elected the deputy of the State Duma of the sixth convocation, LDPR faction.

Since November, 2015 headed the State Duma Health Committee.

In 2016 became the deputy of the State Duma of the seventh convocation from single-candidate constituency No. 70 (Khabarovsk Krai is the Komsomol single-candidate constituency). Was the first deputy chairman of the State Duma Health Committee.

2010: RAGS

2013: Governor of Khabarovsk Krai

2020: Detention on suspicion of the organization of murders

On July 09, 2020 the Investigative Committee announced Sergey Furgal's detention on suspicion of the organization of murders of several businessmen in 2004-2005. The head of the region also check for participation in other especially serious crimes in the territory of the Khabarovsk, Seaside regions and the Amur region.

Testimonies of accused of these crimes became the basis for detention of the governor of Khabarovsk Krai Sergey Furgal on suspicion of participation in murders of entrepreneurs.

"During pretrial investigation contractors of a number of crimes and one of organizers were set... Accomplices gave evidences on Sergey Furgal as organizer of all these crimes. Including there are testimonies of witnesses and victims", the official representative of the Investigative Committee (IC) Svetlana Petrenko reported.
