Biography

Alexander Aleksandrovich Makarov was born on September 29, 1975 in Leningrad.

At first he dreamed to become a seaman as the father who worked more than 30 years in the Baltic sea shipping company and the "sea" surname located to Makarovka. In school days other plans appeared: constantly and successfully being engaged in judo, hockey and soccer, trained himself for sports career. The case interfered: the teacher of mathematics asked to provide school at the district Olympic Games instead of sick excellent students – and it won.

"The father then told: "Sash, you not bad think why to think of short sports career?" – A. Makarov in 2012 remembered. – I studied earlier well, but then seriously became reasonable – and graduated from school with a medal. I am very grateful to the parents who did not have the higher education for the fact that they imparted to me thirst for knowledge. Sport, only amateur, and now an important part of my life".

The thirst for knowledge also defined the choice of specialty: in 1991 in SPbSUT of the prof. M.A. Bonch-Bruyevich the department of satellite TV and radio broadcasting opened – and pulled "contact unearthly civilizations" as the host of the telecast where it was told about new department in Bonche promised. Tender was enormous, but the medallist successfully underwent it. During study very few group of eight people was trained on space programs, however by the time of release in 1997 these state programs were contracted …

In 1997 graduated from the University of telecommunications of the prof. M.A. Bonch-Bruyevich in "A radio communication, broadcasting and television". The young specialist A. Makarov received distribution to "The St. Petersburg intercity international phone" where he worked read months. Then the destiny made a bend.

1997-2001: Siemens in Berlin and the Republic of South Africa

In 1997-2001 worked as the development engineer in the development center of the software of Siemens. In 1997 the company opened development center of the telecommunication software in St. Petersburg and looked for for work of specialists in it.

"In principle it is not my profile, but I decided to try, – A. Makarov tells. – Took only eight people, and tender was about one thousand people into place, there were engineers with experience, and I am a yesterday's student. Nevertheless I managed to get there".

In Siemens he underwent semi-annual training in Competence Center in Berlin, some time worked in the same place, then about half a year – in the Republic of South Africa, and having returned to Russia in 2000, fully felt default effects: all earned money was lost with closing of bank, to account which they were transfered. It made the decision to do further career abroad, in Europe.

2001-2009: Work in Europe

Some time worked in Ericsson in Sweden, and then moved to Germany where received the interesting offer from the president of the consulting company TFK working with all leading vendors of telecommunication equipment in Europe.

From 2001 to 2004 worked in Germany in consulting company TFK where gave lectures on communication systems and the mobile Internet for specialists of Siemens, Lucent, Ericsson, Deutsche Telekom, etc.

"Work very much was pleasant to me, I had an opportunity to understand new technologies of the different companies, – A. Makarov remembers. – It was interesting to be engaged not only in technologies and the equipment, but also commerce, strategy. In Germany I worked seven years actually without quitting the place, directed branch of the company in Nuremberg. And then received the offer from the Russian shareholders to represent the interests of several companies in Europe and after a while directed already group of 36 companies – Russian, German, Swiss. Lived in Munich. Having spent nine years in Europe, I made the decision to return to Russia. It became interesting to transfer knowledge of the European management here".

2011-2014: CEO of Tricolor TV

Two more years Alexander Makarov continued to work in the European holding, representing the interests of the different companies in Russia, and in April, 2011 received the offer from Tricolor TV – to become the managing director. Over this offer did not deliberate seconds:

"After all education I just "satellite telebroadcasting", it had my conscious choice, and there was a dream to work in this industry".

As the managing director A. Makarov was responsible for eight directorates which provide accomplishment of the plan. And in February, 2012 it was appointed general. Certainly, this work more difficult: the company is big, it is a lot of directorates, all very different, but general-system approach allows to develop dynamically.

"New methods of management are applied, – A. Makarov says, – which allow all directorates to work synergistically because they are simply obliged to be allies to show result. The company grows, I see this evolution from within".

Of course, management of people – difficult process. "People will forgive you everything, except themselves", – Caesar A. Makarov quotes. On his place it is important to head to think well before to tell something: in the company talented people, professionals work, and here the CEO tells about the process approach, about project approach, forces them to meet and show results … Nevertheless for 2012 it is a command which is aimed at result.

"There is a purpose, even it is rather a dream: to become valid one of the best managers, – Alexander Makarov says. – There is a wish to reach harmony in itself. Of course, there is a wish to have happy family. There is a wish to work in the leading company. I should achieve results. And the main thing – to live fairly. Since the childhood knew that life is won by fair guys. It is confident in it still".

To enter Do you need tops of ratings to consider itself one of the best managers? No, A. Makarov considers, the main thing – to prove it to itself: "Seneca in Letters of Lutsely recognizes: 'Today I made a great thing – I became the friend to myself'. Here and I want to be to myself another". Ratings – not an indicator, only results of the company can characterize her managers. And as the personality it estimates itself(himself) itself, and imposes requirements to itself(himself) rather high.

A. Makarov does not even consider a hypothetical situation in which the new, interesting, attractive offer of work suddenly would appear:

"I would not accept now any offer as here is what to work on what to reach. We have a pool of activities from which we select profitable to us priorities for five years ahead, and it is the dynamic plan. Generally, I sympathize with competitors".

On February 24 Alexander Makarov left a post of the CEO of the company. "The decision on the termination of the contract between National Satellite Company Ltd and Alexander Makarov is accepted by agreement of the parties. Having left the company, Alexander will be engaged in project implementation, not connected with activity of satellite operator "Tricolor TV"", said in the official statement. The reasons for which Makarov left a post of the head of the largest satellite operator of the country are not sounded.

For operating time of Alexander as the CEO the subscriber base of the operator grew by 4.6 million households, and the number of the paying subscribers exceeded a mark of 10 million. Also under the leadership of Makarov the company started several new packets (in particular, bonus Supercinemas of HD and "The gold card. All inclusive") and The Navigator on Content application which was announced within CSTB’2014.

2015

The director of business development in "MTT of the Innovation"

On March 12, 2015 MTT Group announced Alexander Makarov's appointment the director of business development of the MTT of the Innovation company entering into group.

Makarov on a new post should be engaged in development of international sales and to promote telecommunication products of the company on foreign markets.

Among fundamental obligations of the new director of business development:

• product development
• analysis of the priority markets
• creation of a partner network
• formation of sales strategy of the company
• building of a single system of management

"Experience, knowledge and Alexander's communications are irreplaceable at development of the international projects. He spent in work with foreign customers much time and well knows their business processes and culture, - Sergey Nevstruyev, the CEO of "MTT of the Innovation" noted. – We are very glad that Alexander joined the MTT of the Innovation command.

In November, 2015 MTT Group announced Alexander Makarov's appointment the CEO of "MTT of the Innovation" entering into group.

2016: Vice president of ivi
