Biography
Reshetnikov Leonid Petrovich was born on February 6, 1947 in the city of Potsdam (GDR), in family of the serviceman.
In 1970 graduated from department of history of the Kharkiv state university. From 1971 to 1974 studied in a postgraduate study of the Sofia university (Bulgaria). In 1974 defended the master's thesis.
From 1974 to 1976 worked at Institute of economy of a world socialist system of Academy of Sciences of the USSR. From April, 1976 to April, 2009 – SVR. The last position – the chief of information and analytical Management of SVR of Russia, the member of board of SVR, the lieutenant general.
In April, 2009 Leonid Petrovich Reshetnikov was transferred to the reserve in connection with achievement of age limit of stay on military service.
On April 29, 2009 Reshetnikov Leonid Petrovich is appointed the director of the Russian institute of strategic researches.
For November 1, 2013 works as the director of the Russian institute of strategic researches.
Knows Serbian and Bulgarian languages (freely), can speak Greek.

Family
Married. The wife is Olga Nikolaevna Reshetnikova, the candidate of historical sciences. Two adult daughters and four grandsons.
