Shevchenko Yury Leonidovich is a president and the founder of the Pirogovsky Center.
Biography
Yury was born on April 7, 1947 in the city of Yakutsk.
After leaving school served as the sailor in courts of the Azov and Black Sea basin. From 1966 to 1968 served conscription service in AF of the USSR.
During service graduated from military and medical assistant's school and in 1968 arrived on faculty of training of doctors for Rocket and Ground forces of Army medical college of S.M. Kirov (Academy).
Since 1974 brought HR health service to AF of the USSR - the commander of an operative-dressing platoon of detached medical battalion.
In 1975 arrived on department of hospital surgery of Army medical college of S.M. Kirov: the senior intern of clinic from 1975 to 1977, the clinical intern from 1977 to 1978, the teacher and the chief of department of cardiovascular surgery from 1978 to 1985, the senior teacher from 1985 to 1991.
Since 1991 — Shevchenko worked as the chief of department and clinic of cardiovascular surgery of a name of the academician P.A. Kupriyanov.
In 1992 it is appointed the chief of Academy and the chairman of its Academic council.
Since 1993 he is the chief heart surgeon of St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region, in 1994 became the head of the regional cardiac center created by it.
On July 5, 1999 the Decree of the President of the Russian Federation Shevchenko it is appointed the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation.
Till December, 2000 at the same time remained the chief of Army medical college and directed department and clinic of cardiovascular surgery.
In October, 2000 Yury Leonidovich worked as the head of the department of faculty surgery of MMA of I.M. Sechenov.
In 2002 organized National medical and surgical center of N.I. Pirogov at the Russian Ministry of Health which president it was elected at a meeting of expanded structure of the Academic Council of the Center.
Being the Minister of Health of the Russian Federation, took up a position of the president on a voluntary basis. Since March 20, 2004 the president and the chairman of the Academic Council of the Center — the main position of Shevchenko.
Since January, 2004 - the chief surgeon of the Ministry of Public Health and Social Development of the Russian Federation.
