2025: Arrest on contract killings charges

On October 3, 2025, the Basmanny District Court of Moscow arrested billionaire Ibrahim Suleimanov, who is a co-owner of the Sirena-Travel flight booking system developer. He is suspected of organizing two murders and one attempted murder.

According to reports, TASS referring to information received from an informed source in law enforcement agencies, one of the victims in the case file is the head of the Federal Service for Financial Recovery and Bankruptcy (FSFO) Georgy Tal. In addition, according to the newspaper "," Kommersant Suleimanov is accused of involvement in the murder of Vnukovo Airlines trade union leader Gennady Borisov, who was stabbed 12 times in January 1999 in Moscow at the entrance of a house on Garibaldi Street. The involvement of the defendant in a number of other crimes, including the preparation of the murder of a lawyer, is being checked.

Suleimanov was detained in his country house in the village of Gorki-2 on Rublevka. The investigation is conducted by the central office of the Investigative Committee with the support of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the FSB. As part of operational-search measures, more than 40 searches were carried out in Moscow, Moscow region and Dagestan. By a court decision, Suleimanov was sent to a pre-trial detention center.

The defendant himself does not admit guilt. His defense intends to appeal the decision to arrest the billionaire in the appellate instance of the Moscow City Court.
