Biography

He graduated from St. Petersburg State Electrotechnical University (LETI) in 2008 with a degree in Computer Sciences.

Alexander Tobol joined VK in 2012.

He held the position of Head of Development of Video Platform and Tape of the Odnoklassniki Project.

He became the technical director of VKontakte and the Unified Video and Call Platform of the Mail.ru Group in November 2019. After he led the VKontakte technology team, the company introduced the QUIC Internet protocol and doubled the delivery speed of the VKontakte application, developed group calls without a limit on the number of participants with the ability for all participants to connect from audio and video, install AR backgrounds, and display a screen in 4K. Alexander Tobol's team has created solutions for noise cancellation and audio processing, for speech recognition, recommendation building, search and other tasks.

Under the leadership of Alexander, the company has implemented hundreds of technological updates. In 2020, with the participation of Alexander Vkontakte , a short vertical video service was launched on the technological platform, and in VK Clips 2021 a single video technology platform was created, VK which unites, VK VK Video Clips and OK Video.

In November 2022, he was responsible for the Vkontakte technical platforms VK Video, VK Calls and Clips.

Aleksandr Tobol became vice president of VK. In this position, Alexander took up the development of technologies and development processes at the VK company level.
