In March 2023, Ekaterina Yunkova came to work at the regional Ministry of Health, taking the post of Deputy Minister - Head of the Department for the Organization of Medical Care. Subsequently, she was appointed acting head of the department. In this position, Yunkova was replaced by Alexei Ovchinnikov, who left the post after the scandal. The car in which the official was returning from the hunt was stopped by police. The Ministry of Internal Affairs said that in connection with the discovery of fragments of killed animals in the car, a criminal case was initiated on illegal hunting. Alexey Ovchinnikov denied participating in the murder of animals, but admitted that he behaved inappropriately, swearing at the police. The Tambov TFR twice opened a criminal case under this article (Article 319 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, up to a year of correctional labor) against Alexei Ovchinnikov, but the regional prosecutor's office canceled the relevant decisions.
