Biography
Zdenek Turek is the General manager of Citigroup in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe.
Was born in 1968 in the city of Kolin in the Czech Republic (then - the Czechoslovak Socialist Republic).
Underwent military service.
Education
1986: Prague economic university
In 1986 Turek graduated from economics department of the Prague economic university where he received degree of the bachelor of finance and banking.
1997: Uortonsky university
In 1997 completed an expanded professional development course for managers at the Uortonsky university.
2010: European institute of business management
In 2010 [1] received degree of MVA at INSEAD business school].
Career
1986: Central bank of the Czech Republic
In 1986 it was hired in the Central bank of the Czech Republic. Worked in department on currency exchange transactions as a part of the group which is responsible for the balance of payments, in particular in export-import and service sectors.
At this time the Czech Republic promptly changed. After "the velveteen revolution" of 1989 the communistic ideology consigned to the past. Violently the private sector which provided to specialists the new jobs, more attractive, than in the state economy developed.
A.I.C. Management Consulting
In 1990 Turek passes to work for a position of the deputy manager of representation in Prague in the Austrian consulting company A.I.C. Management Consulting where specialized in restructuring and financial improvement of industrial enterprises.
1991: Citibank in Prague
Having seen the declaration in the newspaper, sends the résumé in Citibank in Prague where it in April, 1991 by result of an interview is taken the ordinary manager - held a number of positions in bank department and in department on corporate finances.
Through some operating time in division on corporate finances and trade financing of Turek send to accumulate experience to London, and then and to New York. From there it returns already the head of all division of Citibank in Prague which is engaged in the corporate sector.
1998: The general manager of Citibank in Romania
But Turek wanted bigger. And the management of Citibank listened to wishes of the young and ambitious employee, having directed in 1998 it to creation and management of subsidiary bank in Romania as the general manager in this country.
Citibank in Bulgaria
Creation of bank division in Bulgaria became the next stage of career of Zdenek Turek.
2002: The head of Citibank in Hungary
In 2002 it is sent to Hungary where he heads local representation and becomes the head, the connected with investments, all Central European direction of Citibank consisting of 5 countries (Hungary, the Czech Republic, Romania, Slovakia and Bulgaria). Held this position till 2005.
2006: The general manager of Citigroup in South Africa
In 2006 to Turek make offer, having given literally 24 hours on thought. He accepts it - and goes to the Republic of South Africa where he becomes the chief executive officer of Citigroup on the African region. In its subordination already about 350 employees, and business is done not only in the Republic of South Africa, but also in ten countries of the region.
Citibank in 16 countries of Africa was the general manager of Citigroup in South Africa and also the head of division.
2008: The head of Citigroup in Russia and the CIS
Despite the obvious success achieved in Africa in the field of programs of corporate financing, promotion of banking products, Turek never forgot the roots, the fact that he is from Eastern Europe. And, when in 2008 offered it a position of the chief executive officer of Citigroup in Russia and the CIS, the president of CB Citibank, he moved to Moscow.
2013: The head of Citigroup in Western Europe
In July, 2013 it was appointed the head of division of Citigroup in Western Europe.
The general manager of Citigroup in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe
For July, 2020 - the General manager of Citigroup in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe, is responsible for activity of all divisions of business of Citi in Russia, the Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Bulgaria, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Works in Moscow.
Additional information
Likes to travel: during the work in Africa visited with family the most remote corners of the Republic of South Africa, studying the country. Also Turek is fond of playing golf.
Family
Turek is married, he has two son and the daughter.
