2020: Development of Ability Augmented Field Procedures technology

On May 22, 2020 the ABB company announced development of technology on the basis of the augmented reality directed to digitization of actions of the technical specialist on an object and improvement of information exchange between it and the central dispatcher station.

ABB developed Ability Augmented Field Procedures technology

According to the developer, the solution completely meets needs of the technical specialists who are on an object, carries out integration field and distributed control systems that increases security, reduces the risks connected with a human factor and increases efficiency. It is considered that more than 20% of industrial idle times, are caused by a human factor. The solution ABB Ability with technologies of augmented reality provides coordination of the operations when carrying out transactions performed manually at standardization of techniques of work, service and repair on an object. It is also applied to digital registration and use of system data.

Unlike traditional printing operating instructions the solution AVV allows to conduct works in an interactive mode using the mobile device that it is consecutive, effective and safe to direct each action of the operator, the solution designer claims.

As noted in AVV, application of the solution in the oil and gas, chemical, processing industry and also in the field of power and water supply will help to transform production processes at the enterprise, having provided to the technical specialists who are on an object, an opportunity to take all advantage of digital technologies, mobile data transmission and remote interaction. This solution is an example of how AVV helps personnel of the customer to work with production applications, providing to employees access to a system regardless of where they are.
