Availability of the ABB RobotStudio AR Viewer application

On August 25, 2020 ABB announced the ABB RobotStudio AR Viewer application which allows to visualize as automation using robots can fit into production process. For this purpose the smartphone or the tablet is required.

According to the company, with an exit of mobile application of ABB with technology of augmented reality it became simpler to define whether implementation of the robotic solution for the existing production process will approach. The application is addition of the RobotStudio program on offline programming intended for work on personal computers.

The RobotStudio AR Viewer application can be used for testing of any project created in the RobotStudio program. Thanks to it customers can gain an impression how many and what robots or robotic cells it is necessary for them how to place them in production workshop and to integrate with the existing technology equipment. Thanks to technology of augmented reality the application imposes the projectible solution on production process. It allows to scale objects up to their complete size and to turn them under different corners to find the best solution.

One of AR Viewer opportunities – an opportunity to see the designed model in operation. Thanks to an option of timing it is possible to check production cycle time, to pass to a certain moment of animation to find methods of performance improvement or to define potential problem sections.

For August, 2020 mobile application is free of charge available in Apple Store and Google Play Store. It is compatible to smart portable devices, beginning from iPhone 6s, iPad Pro and above and devices on Android 7.0 and above with ARCore support.

The AR Viewer application is suitable as for the companies which take the first steps in robotization, and for those who lacked time earlier or resources to start planning of implementing solutions on robotization.

3D function adding - printings

On January 29, 2020 ABB announced 3D function adding - printing in the RobotStudio software product intended for modeling and offline - programming. It will allow to program in only 30 minutes robots of ABB for additive manufacturing.

The module for 3D - printings is added to RobotStudio within PowerPac packet. It allows to exclude manual programming and to accelerate production of prototypes. PowerPac supports different processes, such as welding or printing the granulated plastic or cement mixes, and is ideal for small volumes of printing of materials with high miscibility.

Traditional methods programming of the multiaxial systems for 3D - printing mean labor-intensive and tiresome process of preparation of trajectories with millions of points. Thanks to the module 3D Printing PowerPac any standard design offered by the program a slayser can be "transferred" to the environment of modeling of ABB and a program code of the robot. It allows the operator to pass from CAD models to 3D - printings within half an hour.

According to Markets and Markets research company, the industry 3D - printings intensively grows. It is expected that by 2024 it will reach 34.8 billion US dollars, partly thanks to development of materials for 3D - printing of industrial level.
