2019: Announcement of function

In the middle of May, 2019 "smart" columns of Amazon learned to protect the house from thieves and the fires. The Alexa Guard function which allows Echo smart loudspeakers to reveal signs of emergency was announced – the voice assistant left in the special mode reacts to a sound of the broken glass and other signs of invasion of thieves into the apartment now and sends to the owner the notification.

Besides, Alexa Guard uses the microphones of distant action installed in Echo devices to warn the user if in the apartment signaling or the detector of smoke worked. To activate the Alexa Guard function, it is necessary to tell Alexa, I’m leaving ("Alexa, I leave"). If the voice assistant hears any suspicious sounds, then will send the owner the notification Smart Alert on phone.

Warning will contain an incident audio recording; if on a column the camera Echo Show is mounted, then she will also record and will send to phone to the owner video with robbers. And if the user pays for professional monitoring using a set of security of Ring or setup of the smart house ADT Control, he can permit Alexa Guard to send the notifications Smart Alerts directly to provider of security, it is authorized to them to notify law enforcement agencies on possible robbery from a user name.

Alexa Guard can also switch on and off "smart" lamps, imitating normal use that the house did not issue to unwanted guests that owners left. The free Alexa Guard function can be found in the Alexa application on devices iOS or Android. All Amazon Echo devices with the built-in microphones of distant action will support Alexa Guard, except for Echo Sub (has no microphones) and Echo Auto (are not intended for this purpose).[1]
