2020: The announcement of the simulator for testing of robots and artificial intelligence
On August 18, 2020 the Amazon company provided WorldForge service which allows developers of robotics to test the independent machines and models of artificial intelligence in the simulated environments.
The WorldForge tool is a part of RoboMaker - a cloud service which provides to users a specialized working space for editing, start and debugging of the code of applications for robotics. The RoboMaker development environment includes the operating system, the software for development, the automation system which allows to configure a workplace with ease and to start accomplishment of tasks. The Irobot company and also research commands of some universities uses the solution RoboMaker.
AI managing the robot it is necessary to train and test, as well as any other neural network. Engineers often prefer to provide training in the simulated environments, but not in the real world as it reduces equipment costs and saves time. However setup of user environment is still an expensive action on which months of work can leave. It founders of WorldForge want to solve a problem.
The WorldForge tool provides the interface using which engineers can quickly configure a virtual sandbox for testing of AI of the robot. WorldForge does not require writing of the code, users need to select the necessary parameters only.
The possibility of setup of several environments with different parameters is available to developers that will allow to train machines to work in different conditions. WorldForge implements randomization on every Wednesday, for example, furniture repositioning in the virtual room to help training of AI. The tool supports only a limited set of internal environments so far, but it is quite possible that AWS will provide additional opportunities in the future if on the tool there is demand.[1]
