2019: Module ArcGIS Maps for Adobe CC
The Russian company Esri CIS (the general supplier in Russia and the CIS of Esri technologies) provided on November 22, 2019 ArcGIS Maps for Adobe Creative Cloud – the software module allowing to use in full cards and geoanalytics of Esri in the Adobe CC software package (Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop). Now specialists in graphic design and visual representation of data (infographics) will be able to add to materials vector and raster cards – without need to install a full-fledged geographic information system.
ArcGIS Maps for Adobe CC completely supports work with the geodata (cards, bases of objects and so forth) placed in ArcGIS Online cloud: both publicly available, and corporate. Using tools of this module, the designer can manage layers, styles and representations of objects on the card, – the same as he does it with any other elements of the model in usual to it the Adobe software package. And thanks to the fact that ArcGIS Maps for Adobe CC works with "live" geodata the designer is absolutely free in the choice of scale, a set of objects for display on the card, styles, thematic and analytical layers, adding of own objects and management of any other parameters of the card that was possible earlier only using specialized by GIS systems. Such cards can be easily issued according to corporate prototypes and styles, are branded and also adapted for specific type of visual materials.
For use of ArcGIS Maps for Adobe CC it is necessary to subscribe on the cloud GIS platform ArcGIS Online and to set this software module (the product is available to Windows platforms and MacOS). If only open cards and data published on the ArcGIS Online platform are used it is possible to work with ArcGIS Maps for Adobe CC absolutely free of charge. Application of own data and access to advanced functions of the module requires execution of the corporate account ArcGIS Online.

Esri filled up services of data on heights
On July 2, 2015 the Esri CIS company announces addition of ESRI services with information on area heights with the improved data from the SRTM project (Shuttle Radar Topography Mission is international mission on data acquisition of digital model of a relief).
The new data set covers a considerable part of the Russian Federation (to 60 ° N), at the same time detailing of a relief makes 30 meters (one angular second) that exceeds detail of information which is contained earlier three times.
The used dynamic services of digital model of a relief ("Digital model of the area" and Bathymetry) are effectively applied not only to visualization (for example, "Multidirectional washing", "Color washing"), but provide access to original values of height and derivative parameters (for example, "The steepness of biases" and "Exposure of slopes") that often is necessary for maintaining the analysis.
Online tools of the analysis of this information, for example, calculation of visibility ranges or creation of a profile of the area directly in the browser are available to users of ArcGIS.
In ArcGIS Online the Smart Mapping technology appeared
In March updating of the GIS platform ArcGIS Online there was a Smart Mapping technology opening for users new opportunities of the geographical analysis in a web. According to developers, Smart Mapping will allow to solve analytical problems both to experts, and new users of ArcGIS Online that does GIS by even more available tool for the most wide range of specialists, irrespective of their kind of activity. Now, using this technology, it will become much simpler and more convenient to create evident and informative cards on the basis of own data.
Smart Mapping is more, than just new types of cards, Esri developers put in basic functionality a rule set and styles of creation of cards which received the name of "smart presets". These presets allowed to simplify and automate process of creation of cards on the basis of user data in the environment of web GIS. Unlike the traditional installations by default remaining invariable for any data types and solved by the user of tasks smart presets every time, depending on a specific situation, set the best method and style of data mapping on the web card – it is defined by the nature of these data, type of the card and that "story" which needs to be told.
So, at the disposal of the user there were such styles of a design and setup (calculated automatically or set by the person) as: continuous color scales with borders, the sizes of characters proportional to values; the automated categorization; thermal cards; new methods of use of effects of transparency, etc. These and other new tools will help to carry out easily the geographical analysis and to receive on the screen result in the form of high-quality and evident cards.
At this Smart Mapping does not substitute for itself author's approach of the user to design of the card and a method of data view at all. On the contrary – this module helps to pick up display parameters (color, scale, style, etc.) more precisely to capture the essence, and does it so that the user had no need to adjust result. For example, for each of basic cards in ArcGIS Online (Streets, Topo map, etc.) as "default design" professional color schemes were prepared. Thanks to it, the user cards will have with guarantee attractive appearance – without any additional settings and adjustments. And all opportunities for change and settings of parameters of the card manually are completely saved.
It is possible to use Smart Mapping in ArcGIS Online by two methods: during creation of the new card on the basis of data from the CSV, TXT or GPX files (it is easy to add them as a layer – "having just drawn" the file in a window with the basic card in the browser), or having selected the item Change Style in a context menu of a cartographic layer if the layer of data is already connected to the card. When adding new layers data are analyzed, and a system offers the most suitable type of the card (for example, "the thermal card") and style of a design (the sizes of markers depending on a parameter value in this point; coloring in continuous colors that saves from need to carry out grouping and a categorization manually and also sets the optimal range of visibility, etc.).
2013: Possibilities for creation and use of web cards and applications
The next version of ArcGIS Online is published on July 3, 2013 and includes a set of improvements for creation and use of web maps and applications, administration of corporate users, the press service of the company reported on July 4, 2013.
Analysis tools
From new products analytical tools are available to users, in particular, – "Find the next object", "Find in the set area", "Build areas with preset time of arrival", "Integrate layers" and others. Now it is possible to save routes as layers, then analyzing them. Also display of pictures is improved – creators of cards can configure a display format, properties of tables, to create filters, to show or hide a legend.
Interaction with web applications
Many web applications are created and finished. For example, using the Map Tour application users will be able to import images directly with Flickr, Facebook, Picasa or from any other source through CSV file. Using a template of mobile applications Swipe it is possible at the same time, to display two cards in one window or a layer (they can be separated by a screen blind or using a screen magnifying glass) – it is very convenient when comparing.
Localization support is expanded
Changes affected also the ArcGIS applications. So, Esri Maps for Office of version 2.0.2 supporting 9 languages, including Russian became available. New sets of geospatial and demographic data and base for services of geocoding, calculation of routes and the network analysis, including, to Russia are published.

Module Esri Maps for Office
Esri Maps for Office is a component of ArcGIS Online which is available in the presence of a subscription to the organizations. The module is a cartographic superstructure to usual Microsoft Office applications which makes process of creation of cards available to the most different users. With its help it is possible to create interactive maps directly in the MS Excel and also to add "live" dynamic cards to MS PowerPoint presentations. These cards can be made available as for a certain circle of users, and to publish them for all on the Internet.
3D in the browser
The three-dimensional scenes created using the CityEngine 2012 application can be published in the Internet through the account ArcGIS Online now, and then to watch them directly in the browser using CityEngine web viewer. The Chrome, Firefox and Safari browsers are suitable for viewing.
Management of objects of services
Process of management of sets of space data in services of objects is significantly improved. Now there was an opportunity to create empty services for which only the data scheme is defined. These schemes can be used as templates for collecting of new information. Besides, now it is possible to manage templates of objects in already published services.
The user templates of applications for gallery and group
Use of templates of applications for the publication of gallery of cards is an optimal method of providing quick and convenient access to cards and applications for a certain user group. Also there was a possibility of creation of user applications for the publication of gallery of cards on the website.
Cartographic templates of web applications
The new configured templates Social networks and "Simple Viewer of Cards" were added to gallery of templates of applications for desktop PCs, smartphones and tablets. It is possible to get acquainted with them using the account ArcGIS Online.
Options of embedding of cards
Now when embedding cards in the website it is possible to add the reference to viewing the card in an expanded format. It is also possible to configure the text for this link and to open the card in the set application, but not in the viewer of the ArcGIS.com cards (by default).
Description of ArcGIS Online
"ArcGIS Online represents the cartographic system for the organizations working at a basis of cloud computing which significantly changes representation both GIS managers, and IT managers about mapping and GIS — Jack Dangermond, the president of Esri told. — ArcGIS Online works with all data types and is constructed on the powerful cartographic platform allowing users it is easy to manage the geospatial content, such as data, maps, pictures, applications and other geographical information".
Those who already began to work with ArcGIS Online at once saw the advantages allowing to provide access to geographical information as it is possible for the bigger number of people within as all enterprise, and for all users. A system provides a possibility of closer cooperation in groups and departments, allowing it is easy to integrate data and to perform their exchange. ArcGIS Online is available to a request, allows to work independently with cards and is easily integrated with the Excel program for creation of cards with data tables.
ArcGIS Online opens the new opportunities for the organizations allowing to visualize information and to quickly transfer these data to web services. The organizations can integrate the cartographic services received from different sources and to configure a huge number of applications, ready to use, which can be implemented and started in browsers and on mobile devices.
On an annual subscription, the organization can get own and secure access to cloud services of Esri company. No additional hardware or the software is required. The organization will have an access to all tools for mapping and the analysis of location, global basic data and pictures, demographic information, a template library and applications for browsers and mobile devices.
Users can work with directories, maps and applications, to create groups for joint work. For example, without any programming, any user who has a subscription to ArcGIS Online can quickly exchange cards, having laid out them on the website or the blog, also through social networks, or using previously made template.
As ArcGIS Online is integrated with ArcGIS Desktop and ArcGIS Server, the cards created by specialists GIS can be available now and to other staff of the organization using the same system. Each employee in the organization can work with these cards via the browser, the smartphone, the tablet or other mobile device.
Registration for work with ArcGIS Server in ArcGIS Online consists of only several steps which need to be passed that who needs information for accomplishment of a certain work. Besides, the employees who are not professionals in the field of GIS i.e. the specialists working with information to whom services and data are necessary for GIS can quickly create cards now from unstructured information with which they work a type of spreadsheets and text files. To these to cards all will be able to get access who have any electronic device.
Thanks to the fact that this type of service is available on any request and allows to work independently with cards specialists GIS does not need to respond to the permanent requests for obtaining maps now, and instead it is possible to concentrate on creation and the publication of important information products. The subscription to ArcGIS Online also includes access to API which developers in the organization can use for expansion of a system or integrate own solution with the ArcGIS system.
The flexible, annual plan of a subscription is created taking into account different organization sizes and departments, beginning from the small working groups to the enterprise in general. What exactly to buy depends on organization size and its Internet resources which it is going to use. It is possible to purchase a separate subscription to each department or one general subscription for all organization.
It is going to organize a subscription as for the small number of users — 5 users and 2500 service credits, and for a large number of departments from 1000 users and 110,000 service credits or it is even more. Irrespective of the fact which the tariff plan is selected by the organization, it can add even more users and the service credits at any time.
The service credits (Service credits) are a peculiar currency for ArcGIS Online. Each service credit allows the organization to set a certain number of ArcGIS Online services, such as opportunities for data storage, mapping and geocoding. Providing a certain volume of such service credits gives to the organization the chance to use a system according to the organizational process and needs. The organizations which already have a license agreement of the enterprise (enterprise license agreement, ELA) with Esri company, receive a subscription to ArcGIS Online as a part of the agreement with a certain quantity of the service credits and an unlimited number of users.
In ArcGIS Online there are three types of users: administrator, publisher and just user. Administrators can publish and use all content and also control use of service using an observation panel. If on a panel there is a message that the service credit is at a low level, then it is possible to purchase the credit online or having contacted representatives of Esri company. Administrators also have an opportunity to invite or add users, to delete users, to define activity of users, to delete contents and groups and also to set security policy.
Administrators can also personify main the ArcGIS Online pages to provide data on the organization and its brand. Tuning properties include adding of a logo and banners, creation of the user URL addresses, and demonstration of the maps and applications important for the organization.
Publishers have no administrator's right, but they can publish contents and use the materials published by others. Other users can interact and use content, but cannot publish it. It is important to note that the organization all rights and the property right to any content published in ArcGIS Online save.
