AutoCAD WS

AutoCAD WS is a free Internet-application based on technology of "cloud" calculations using which users of AutoCAD can browse, edit and show the DWG files via web browsers and mobile devices.

AutoCAD WS allows to work on the project at any time and in any situation, integrating users in a global working space, says Autodesk. Direct access to the project is possible both from software products of AutoCAD, and from operating systems of mobile devices, such as iPhone and iPad of Apple company.

iOS

The Autodesk company released the product AutoCAD WS – mobile version desktop a solution CAD for the IOS platform. Using the application users will be able to browse and edit files in the DWG format on the display of the iPhone smartphone or the iPad tablet computer and also to exchange design data with other participants of workflow.

In the AutoCAD WS application the most demanded functions and tools of the desktop version AutoCAD which support of external references, layers and graphic substrates is among are implemented. Thanks to support of a touch control users without effort will be able to rotate and scale objects and also to move them from place to place. The structure of a packet switches on tools for creation of forms, adding of text signatures and implementation of control measurements.

One of key features of proposed solution is the possibility of the organization of effective joint work online. The opened DWG files are loaded into the uniform working space available to all workgroup members. Each user can make corrections which become automatically visible to all his colleagues.

The application can be started on iPhone, iPad and iPod touch devices, however fully advantages of a mobile system will be estimated by owners of the new tablet PC from Apple. The big iPad display will make work with projects of more comfortable, and convenient pop-up windows and the menu guarantee the increased productivity of work of specialists.

AutoCAD WS 1.2

Upgraded version of AutoCAD WS 1.2 offers several long-awaited improvements. In particular, users are given an opportunity of viewing, editing and distribution of the two-dimensional drawings in the DWG format created in the Autodesk Inventor application.

The list of an innovation also includes a possibility of cutting, copying and text insertion and objects. The advanced Free Line tool will allow users to regulate width of the lines used for drawing, display of specific characters or the text. The system of measures selected by the user is applied in different browse modes now, and the new feature under the name Snap Preview provides high-quality scaling of the image and allows to bring closer the selected area of the drawing for accurater selection of the necessary objects and interaction with them.

Separate mentioning is deserved by expanded language support. The product AutoCAD WS is available in the Japanese, Chinese, Korean, Spanish, Portuguese, French, German and Italian languages now.

AutoCAD WS 1.2 works running operating system iOS 3.0 or more of the late version and can be started on portable devices of iPhone, iPad or iPod touch.

Autodesk is going to add a number of new features to the next version of AutoCAD WS – the free application allowing to browse the projects executed in AutoCAD on mobile devices, to edit them and to exchange them on the Internet. Users of the solution will get access to new opportunities thanks to which, in particular, functioning with 3D models will be ensured. Besides, AutoCAD WS developers are going to include in a product support of GPS for preserving in drafts of information on their geographic location and also a possibility of instant cloud printing on any HP printer (including the Designjet families). More than three million loadings of AutoCAD WS are at the moment registered by users already. The product helps to set up successful cooperation between architects, engineers and those who do not work in a CAD.

Using AutoCAD WS, participants of project teams and other interested persons, even being out of office, can browse, edit and transfer each other drawings. In the new version the functionality of AutoCAD WS will be expanded as follows:

• Interactive 3D - functions. Users of AutoCAD WS will have an opportunity to browse 3D models and to exchange them on mobile devices.
• Integration with GPS. Applying GPS opportunities which the majority of mobile devices has, users will be able to be guided better in drawings – in particular, to supply fragments of drawings with comments on their geographic location, being on designed projects.
• Printing using service HP ePrint & Share. Registration in free online service HP ePrint & Share will give to users of AutoCAD WS an opportunity of convenient printing of projects on the Designjet HP printers connected to the Internet. Full control over styles of printing, drawing formats, configurations of sheets, etc. will be provided at the same time.

AutoCAD WS 1.1

In version 1.1 of the application for the mobile devices AutoCAD WS broad access is provided thanks to following features:

• support of access in a standalone mode (wish No. 1 from users of AutoCAD WS is a possibility of viewing and editing projects via mobile devices without the need for connection with the Internet);
• direct unloading of files via iPad — now users can open investments to e-mails and upload them on the account AutoCAD WS directly from the mobile device;
• the simplified interface — technology of editing, drawing and drawing marks became more intuitive and even more similar to normal AutoCAD.
