Handle can speed at 14 kilometers per hour and jump on 1.2 meters up. On one charge the robot of two meters in height can pass 24 kilometers. He is also capable to transfer 45 kilograms using short "hands"[1].
The robotic company Boston Dynamics designed the quadruped robot whose lower pair of extremities is equipped with wheels. Initially demonstration video was shown on the closed presentation, however the venture investor Steve Dzhurvetson who was present at an action made a copy of a roller and published "ekranka" on YouTube.
In modern robotics depending on an assigned task engineers look for different approaches and experiment with design of robots. This Boston Dynamics robot is capable to keep balance in difficult situations, at the same time he can how quietly to move on a plain surface, and to make difficult dynamic movements.
In the posted video representatives of Boston Dynamics tell and show possibilities of a quadruped prototype under the name Handle. The robot can transfer a load on hands, moving on wheels, at the same time actively uses weight of own body and extremity — bends in turns, balances, deviating a vertical axis and extends upper extremities to catch balance. Judging by the video, the robot is able to get up independently on wheels, to move down from borders and is even capable to jump over obstacles on the run.
