CoprHD 2.4
On December 21, 2015 it became known of release of the first release of CoprHD 2.4 by community CoprHD. The product is transferred to the license Apache License 2.0.
In release the scope is expanded, object storage of EMC ECS and also REST API for EMC XtremIO 4.0 is supported (the complete list of functions and supported platforms is available in community of the CoprHD project).
Intel and the University of Oregon joined community CoprHD. Intel keeps the project on integration of Keystone with CoprHD to use Cinder API and/or CoprHD API for providing services of block storage. This function will allow to create the single interface of storage system with CoprHD for OpenStack services.
Continuing expansion of an ecosystem CoprHD, the community released SouthBound SDK developer kit created specially that vendors of storage systems, other companies had an opportunity quickly to add other data warehouses to CoprHD. Students of the University of Oregon develop the first plug-in on the SouthBound SDK platform for the EMC ScaleIO driver. It will replace the ScaleIO driver in the current release and will serve as a test sample for SouthBound SDK improvement.
Beginning of the CoprHD project
On May 18, 2015 EMC announced CoprHD project startup on the EMC ViPR Controller platform.
It is the first product EMC open source created on the basis of one of commercial software products. The CoprHD project will make the source code of the automation system and control of data storage of ViPR Controller community open for development. It is planned that the source code will be available on GitHub in June, 2015.
The CoprHD project will be licensed with Mozilla Public License 2.0 that will give to clients, to partners, developers and other vendors of storage systems access to the code, an opportunity to expand and make the contribution to addition of characteristics and functionality of the CoprHD project.
API of the CoprHD project are created for providing to developers the uniform, not tied to vendor point of control (control point) for data storage automation.
The CoprHD project works in data center in the form of the open uniform level of management and provides the same level of flexibility, the choice, security and transparency, as ViPR Controller, offers opportunities for creation of new services and applications.
The CoprHD project will be available on GitHub in June, 2015.
