MTS doubled the capacity of the data center for working with AI

The power of the cloud infrastructure MTS in the data center Leningrad Region has been doubled after the launch of a new cluster with GPU accelerators. This became known in March 2025.

According to the press service of MTS, the new cluster is specially focused on training and working with models of generative artificial intelligence. A virtual infrastructure with a graphics accelerator (GPU) is necessary for efficient work with machine learning and artificial intelligence, since it allows you to quickly process large information arrays, including images and videos, perform complex scientific calculations and create three-dimensional models.

MTS doubled the capacity of the data center to work with AI

The updated cluster is intended both for infantry - the use of already trained models of artificial intelligence, and for training new algorithms. The cloud platform can be used to function as chat bots based on artificial intelligence and voice assistants.

Director of MTS in St. Petersburg and the Leningrad Region Alexander Solovenchuk noted that cloud platforms with a graphics accelerator are capable of processing large amounts of data in a matter of minutes, which is critical for tools and services working with algorithms. They significantly speed up work with models, reducing development and testing time, as a result of which companies are able to implement their ideas faster and more efficiently.

Solovenchuk also stressed that in St. Petersburg there is an increase in demand not only for solutions for training models based on generative artificial intelligence, but also for infrastructure to support their further work. The new cluster will allow businesses to scale computing power and quickly solve problems without the need to invest in expensive equipment.[1]

Start MWS Virtual Infrastructure Segment

MTS Web Services (MWS) January 20, 2025 announced the launch virtual of the infrastructure segment in its own modular " DPC MTS Fedorovsky" in. Leningrad Region More details. here

2024: Infrastructure Launch with MWS Cloud GPU Accelerators

MTS Web Services (MWS), part of the MTS group, announced the launch of a virtual infrastructure cluster with GPU accelerators at the Fedorovsky data center in the Leningrad Region. MTS announced this on August 8, 2024. Read more here.

2023: Commissioning of the third module with a capacity of 125 server racks

Provider CloudMTS - part of the group MTS on September 19, 2023 announced the commissioning of the third module with a capacity of 125 server racks data center in the company in the village of Fedorovskoye. Leningrad Region After the completion of constructions data center the facility, the total capacity increased by 50%. MTS corporate systems, including CloudMTS cloud, will be deployed in this module.

The first two modules of the MTS data center in Fedorovsky were put into operation in the fall of 2020. The facility was the first such data center in the Northwest. After the construction of the third module, the total capacity of the data center was 375 server racks.

This module, like the entire data center, will be used for corporate needs of MTS. In particular, in the future it plans to deploy the CloudMTS cloud. All three data center modules have an international TIER III constructed facility reliability certificate. The total power supplied to the facility increased from 8 to 16MW.

The data center also uses energy-efficient adiabatic-cooled air conditioning systems, which reduces the PUE value to 1.15 on an annualized basis.

A modular data center differs from traditional data centers in the ability to quickly scale the necessary computing power for any task. As of September 2023, there are three such data centers in the MTS infrastructure.

2020: Launch of MTS Northwest Data Center in Leningrad Region

On October 28, 2020, MTS announced the launch of its modular data center in the village of Fedorovskoye, Leningrad Region. This is the first such data center in the North-West, the operator claims.

A modular data center differs from traditional data centers in the ability to quickly scale the necessary computing power for any task. At the first stage, 8 MW capacity was supplied with the potential for expansion to 16 MW, MTS said in a statement. The data center is certified Tier III by the Uptime Institute, an international organization.

MTS launched its modular data center in the Leningrad region

Enterprise customers and government customers of the region will be able to use the infrastructure of the new data center in system integration projects, for storing and processing large amounts of data, backing up and transferring IT systems to the# CloudMTS cloud platform.

The data center in Fedorovsky was the first in the Leningrad Region and the eleventh in the federal network of MTS data centers located in large Russian cities: three centers in, To Moscow two in, Nizhny Novgorod one each in,,, and Moscow region To Samara. Novosibirsk Vladivostok Krasnodar The following modular MTS data centers will be built in Novosibirsk, Primorye and in one of the cities of the Southern Federal District. Construction data processing center was conducted within the framework of the agreement between MTS and the Government of the Leningrad Region.
