2023: Data Center Launch
On February 28, 2023, Rostelecom announced the commissioning of a new data center in Moscow. It was named "Medvedkovo" and is located in the eponymous district of the capital at the address: Chermyanskaya street, vl. 4.
The total area of the data center is 20 thousand m2. The facility is designed for 16 machine rooms with a capacity of 312 standard racks each with a design capacity of 36 MW. As part of the first stage, 1,248 racks were launched in four machine rooms with a total capacity of 9 MW.
It is stated that the data center corresponds to the level of protection Tier III. The project uses special engineering solutions: redundancy of energy and cold supply, telecommunication routes, fire extinguishing and monitoring systems are implemented with a power reserve exceeding the N + 1 standard. This means that if one of the power units of the equipment fails and even if the additional power supply fails, the power reserve will still remain at N + 1.
In addition, the data center provides for the separation of the rack area and engineering infrastructure. The operation service will maintain the infrastructure without contact with the machine room. The volume of investments in the project was not disclosed.
Rostelecom DPC plans to increase capacity and resume high rates of launch of new projects. At the end of May 2023, the second stage of the Medvedkovo data center should be launched for another 1248 racks, and by the end of 2023 the site will be fully commissioned. Also in 2023, it is planned to open another major project - the Moscow-V data center of Tier IV level.
Suppliers leaving the market and significant changes in the data center market have become the basis for developing new approaches. We are one of the few who are launching a large-scale project in the current realities, while implementing unique solutions. The new Medvedkovo project is designed to ensure the highest safety and reliability of equipment, "said Sergey Bochkarev, General Director of Rostelecom DPC. |
