Creating a battery

The capital's developer and manufacturer of electronic solutions for vehicles helped create one of the main battery systems for the domestic electric car Lada E-Largus. This was announced on January 22, 2024 by the Minister of the Government of Moscow, Head of the Department of Investment and Industrial Policy Vladislav Ovchinsky. Read more here.

Start of production

In mid-December 2023, the production of electric vehicles of the Lada e-Largus family began in Izhevsk, within which passenger and commercial station wagons will be offered. In turn, these versions will differ in batteries and carrying capacity.

As part of the first experimental batch, six Lada e-Largus cars rolled off the assembly line. In total, according to AvtoVAZ President Maxim Sokolov, it is planned to assemble 30 cars. Maxim Sokolov made a test drive of the car at the plant site together with the head of Udmurtia, Alexander Brechalov, who got behind the wheel.

Largus electric vehicle production began in Izhevsk

The partner and supplier of electrical components was the Russian company Itelma. The electric motor develops 50 kW and 120 kW at its peak and accelerates the car to 100 km/h in less than 10 seconds. For e-Largus, two battery options will be offered, with a capacity of 44 kWh and 61 kWh. In the first case, the mileage on one charge will be just over 300 km, in the second - about 400 km.

Batteries for new machines have been developed and produced in Russia, the control and thermostating system is also Russian. The company plans to localize the last imported cell, the battery cell, in the next two years.

The transfer of production of the Largus family to Izhevsk is associated with plans to load line No. 1 in Togliatti, where it is planned to significantly increase the production of cars of the Vesta family, as well as put an executive Lada Aura sedan and a new crossover on the Vesta platform on the conveyor.

The volume of production of directly electric vehicles will depend directly on support measures, which will apply only to highly localized products with an electric power plant within the next [2024] year, or to the entire list of products, including from foreign countries, - quotes. 2022: Electric Car Announcement

At the end of December 2022, AvtoVAZ presented an electric version of the Largus station wagon. The company called it "the most localized electric car."

e-Largus will be offered in four versions: cargo and passenger with two batteries of different capacity for each. It is assumed that the novelty will receive nickel-cobalt-magnesium or lithium-iron-phosphate batteries.

The commercial van is designed to carry 800 kg of cargo, and the passenger will receive two layout options - for 5 and 7 seats.

e-Largus

e-Largus was equipped with one 110 kW (150 hp) electric motor. Acceleration to a hundred will take less than 10 seconds for the car. The maximum speed is 145 km/h. The range of the electric car will be about 400 km with one driver and 100 kg of payload.

Lithium-ion batteries are located in the engine compartment and in the place where the gas tank was located, thanks to which the useful volume of the cabin and trunk remained the same (560 liters in a five-seater version), and it was also possible to place the center of gravity below to increase the stability of the vehicle.

According to the general director of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov, the car will allow loading the production facilities of the LADA Izhevsk plant, developing Russian engineering competencies, and also releasing a "truly Russian electric car."

The first pilot batch of e-Largus electric vehicles is scheduled to be released in 2023. As of December 27, 2022, the cost of the car is not announced.
