Launch into mass production WOP-30LS
On December 25, 2023, Eltex announced the launch of mass production and the start of sales of a WOP-30LS access point with Wi-Fi 6 support and an integrated sector antenna. It is designed to organize a high-performance Wi-Fi network in a dense load and difficult electromagnetic environment.
According to the company, the model can be used for highly specialized tasks both indoors and outdoors, for example:
- in crowded places - in stadiums, parks, shopping centers, etc.;
- production and storage facilities with a large number of metal structures that degrade signal propagation;
- rooms with a complex layout, where you need to organize a confident Wi-Fi reception only in certain areas;
- along linear objects - for example, roads, pipelines, power lines.
The main feature of the WOP-30LS is a built-in sector antenna with a directional angle of 55×40° (H/V). This allows you to narrow the coverage area and, with a competent installation, optimize interference from neighboring access points at high density, reduce the number of potential customers per point and thereby increase the throughput for each of them.
It is possible to optimally organize the coverage area according to the location of the client devices. For example, in production premises, an access point can be installed in such a way as to serve only a certain area, for example, a production line.
WOP-30LS supports Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax). This ensures optimal performance, reliability and stability of the wireless network in difficult operating conditions and with high connection density.
Supported MU-MIMO 2×2 and OFDMA technologies will help optimize connectivity and reduce latency. And the use of 1024QAM modulation gives an increase in performance compared to Wi-Fi 5 access points due to more efficient use of bandwidth.
The WOP-30LS access point allows simultaneous use of 2.4 and 5 GHz bands, together providing wireless connection speeds up to 1.7 Gb/s. This is enough for simultaneous connection and comfortable operation of 50 connected devices.
enciphering Personal and Enterprise WPA2/WPA3 are supported. You can connect to the network of the access point through the portal authorization Captive Portal and Radius-.server
The access point case is made of durable plastic and is designed to operate at very low and high temperatures - from -45 to + 65 ℃. It has a sealed case with a degree of IP65 protection: the access point is not afraid of water and dust. The device can be attached to a mast or wall, all the necessary fasteners are included for installation. WOP-30LS supports Ethernet (PoE) power technology. The case houses a RJ-45 port that supports cable connection up to 2.5 Gbps.
The access point fleet can be combined into a single wireless network to cover a wide area by supporting seamless roaming (IEEE 802.11r/k/v). Thanks to this, you can move between the coverage zones of points without losing the connection and without the need to pass authorization every time.
Seamless roaming is an alternative to mobile communications in crowded places, where the cellular network is often overloaded or poorly operated. For example, these can be outdoor events, such as city holidays in squares and parks.
The WOP-30LS is managed and configured using the WEB interface, command line, Telnet, SSH and NETCONF.
With a large number of APs organizing the network, specialized controllers can be used to centrally manage them from a single interface. Eltex has a SoftWLC software controller and a line of hardware controllers:
- WLC-15 for small networks with up to 50 access points;
- and WLC-30 for larger networks with support for up to 150 APs.
Controllers allow you to flexibly configure policies and settings for all connected access points, optimize the use of radio resources and bandwidth, and quickly scale the Wi-Fi network as needed.
Start-up in mass production WOP-20L
On January 9, 2023, Eltex announced that it had launched mass production of the Eltex WOP-20L, an external access point that supports the Wi-Fi 5 standard. It is designed to create a wireless network in places with a high density of customers, for example in parks, stadiums and construction sites.
According to the company, WOP-20L is an all-weather access point. A durable housing protects the device from harsh environmental conditions. Thanks to protection, dust, rain and snow IP55 not able to harm it. WOP-20L has built-in passive cooling radiator to remove excess heat. The operating temperature range is -45 ° C to + 60 ° C. WOP-20L connects to the network using an Ethernet cable via a gigabit port.Thanks to PoE support, data and power are transferred over one wire.
At the top of the case there are four SMA connectors for connecting antennas. Depending on the tasks, antennas are connected to the WOP-20L:
- directional (sector, panel, etc.) - to narrow the coverage area, increase the signal propagation range and segmentation in places with high density of devices;
- non-directional (circular) - for wide coverage area and shorter signal propagation range.
WOP-20L works simultaneously in two bands - 2.4 and 5 GHz. The sensitivity of the receivers is -91 and -94 dBm, the power of the transmitters is 18 and 20 dBm, respectively. Performance - 1.1 Gbps (up to 300 Mbps for the 2.4 GHz band, up to 867 Mbps for 5 GHz).
The WOP-20L uses the MIMO 2×2 antenna configuration. Multithreaded data transfer increases the bandwidth of the channel: you can connect more devices and provide each of them with a stable signal. The recommended maximum number of connections to a single point is 50 devices.
With several WOP-20L, you can create a seamless network according to the IEEE 802.11r/k/v standard. When moving from the coverage area of one access point to the zone of another, reconnection will be unnoticed by the user and will not affect the content consumption in any way. Thus, you can create a network with seamless roaming and cover a large area.
Thanks to the Eltex SoftWLC software controller, RADIUS and Captive Portal authorization systems are implemented. Using the RADIUS server, access is configured using an individual dynamic key (EAP-TLS) or a login and password (EAP-PEAP). This will help protect the network from unauthorized access from outside and individualize access.
Captive Portal is used to authorize users in public wireless networks, for example, using an outgoing or incoming call, SMS or login to the Public services account. This is necessary to comply with the requirements of the law on user registration.
Wireless security is provided by WPA/WPA2 and WPA/WPA2 Enterprise protocols. WOP-20L allows you to create up to 14 virtual access points and for each will configure individual access settings for different groups of users.
SoftWLC allows you to manage, flexibly configure and update WOP-20L using the NETCONF protocol. You can also manage using Telnet, SSH, CLI and the web interface.

2018: Implementation of mesh network technology on WEP/WOP-2ac, WEP/WOP-12ac and WOP-12ac-LR
On November 30, 2018, Eltex announced the implementation of mesh network technology at access points WEP/WOP-2ac, WEP/WOP-12ac, WOP-12ac-LR. The functionality is available on devices after updating to software with mesh support.
A feature of the mesh network is the use of special protocols with monitoring the state of the radio channel and support for dynamic routing of traffic along the optimal route. If one of the APs fails, traffic is automatically redirected along the new route. The optimal route is determined based on the quality of the radio environment, the number of direct connections, as well as the load of the transmission routes, this ensures a quick response to any changes in the radio environment or network composition. The technology operates at a frequency of 5GHz, which provides high throughput and less interference. In the Eltex access points, it is possible to encrypt traffic sent within the mesh network.
Mesh is a self-organizing mesh network where APs are connected to each other on an "each-to-each" basis, serving as routers for the rest of the network. Thanks to full connectivity, it becomes possible to create a fault-tolerant, self-healing segment of the wireless network. The mesh network consists of an access point controller and node access points. The access point-controller controls the network and is also a gateway between the wired and wireless networks. The remaining access points (nodes), using the radio channel, are connected to each other, as well as to a wired access point, forming a fully connected mesh network.
With ease of deployment, the technology can be used by in-house company engineers to organize a corporate network in the office, warehouse or complex, in large pavilions for product metering devices with Wi-Fi, organization of Wi-Fi coverage in parks and shopping centers, deployment of enterprise wireless LAN, organizing a self-healing network at industrial enterprises, as well as for organizing a network in operation, where it is not possible to stretch the cable, but it is possible to organize a wireless connection.
The mesh network can be configured using the SoftWLC management system, as well as using the web interface of the access point controller. They implement network monitoring functionality, which includes viewing data transmission statistics, the current state of connections between participants, as well as network topology.
The main features of the technology are:
- High fault tolerance;
- Easy to deploy network versus wired;
- Self-organizing network topology;
- Automatic restoration of connectivity in case of failure or disconnection of any access point;
- Dynamic routing within the network and selection of the optimal route for data transmission;
- Data transfer security (encrypted connection between nodes);
- High data transfer rate due to the use of 802.11ac technology;
- Centralized management with SoftWLC.
