2017: There was a version of FlexPod SF

On June 29, 2017 the companies Cisco also NetApp announced replenishment of a line of the integrated infrastructure systems FlexPod SF technology.

FlexPod SF creates conditions for convergent infrastructure the high predictable performance programmed by flexibility and horizontal scalability in a multi-user environment.

As a part of FlexPod SF horizontally scalable DWH NetApp SolidFire with connection to a cloud, servers Cisco Unified Computing System (Cisco UCS) of B-Series and switches Cisco Nexus. The technological solution is suitable for support of an enterprise architecture and the developing architecture due to capability to select necessary disk space of DWH and to provide the performance level optimized for needs of certain users.

Specific Features

  • predictable performance: an opportunity to steadily run hundreds of applications on one platform with the guaranteed SLA levels and to individually set the size of disk space and the quality level of service for ensuring the minimum, maximum or peak capacity within all infrastructure. FlexPod SF is created on the Cisco UCS platform and complemented with DWH of Netapp SolidFire.
  • programmable flexibility: an opportunity with to satisfy business needs thanks to software-defined architecture of SolidFire, the simplified management and scaling due to automation of all aspects of selection of resources, management and creation of reports through completely programmable DWH of Netapp SolidFire and the UCS B-Series servers. The computing Cisco UCS platform reduces product yield time for the market by 56% and allows to provide to end users 59% more business applications. DWH of Netapp SolidFire is capable to accelerate deployment of virtual machines by 5 times and provides possibilities of granular scaling in process of growth using independent nodes of DWH.

2013: FlexPod Select

For July 31, 2013 FlexPod Select is the solution in FlexPod portfolio supporting target work assignments – work of high performance applications.

At the initial stage this category of products will support processing of large volumes of data in the Hadoop system for the Big Data applications working in the field of financial services in public institutions and also on retail, production and other markets. The organizations will be able quickly to set FlexPod Select and freely to scale this solution on a measure of growth of applied requirements.

FlexPod Select exit was announced on July 31, 2013 by partners in work on a product, the company Cisco and NetApp.

Components

As a part of the FlexPod Select family high-performance storage systems of Netapp E-Series and FAS, the Cisco UCS C-Series servers, the Cisco switches Nexus and managing software from Cisco company.

All these products join in the uniform architecture accelerating obtaining the useful ideas and payback of the project. FlexPod Select is the first solution from FlexPod portfolio using (as an option) the patented Netapp E-Series platform which increases performance, density and modular flexibility of a wide range of the applications processing large volumes of data.

The solution FlexPod Select with the Hadoop system (also first in FlexPod portfolio) minimizes risk of implementation of the analytical Hadoop platform with the open code, checking its such components as storage systems, computing systems, network connections and management systems.

Integration with Hadoop

FlexPod Select with the Hadoop system is delivered in two checked configurations. One of them – FlexPod Select with Cloudera Distribution and Apache Hadoop (CDH), another – FlexPod Select with Hortonworks Data Platform (HDP). Both configurations support the accelerated deployment of the high-available Hadoop environment of a corporate class in architecture of FlexPod Select.
