Smart Device Services (SDS) is a set of the cloud tools and the built-in functions of detection designed to increase service quality of a corporate printing equipment. The HP solution of SDS reduces maintenance expenses, increases service life of devices and provides service of millions of devices worldwide. Partners who began to use the solution SDS, note that maintenance expenses were reduced on average by 15%. The SDS technology can solve far off some technical issues and provide data on potential malfunctions to partners that helps to increase amount of the eliminated faults during the first address by 5-10%. Now SDS can predict failures of key components in advance that allows to fix a problem still before the device fails and to ensure continuous functioning of users.
2017: Announcement of version 2.0
In September, 2017 HP Inc company. provided the next generation of the products Smart Device Services (SDS) in which possibilities of technologies of Internet of Things, Big Data, machine learning and intellectual diagnostics are applied to the optimized service of devices.
In Smart Device Services 2.0 the augmented list of possible scenarios of use which, according to developers, will allow to achieve high rates of trouble-free operation and cutting of costs for service.
Among version 2.0 opportunities:
- Forecasting of failure of components: monitoring of components of the device and forecasting of their failure for optimization of service requests and planning of orders of parts
- Expanded diagnostics: detection of dust in the scanner, existence of the sensor of failure for identification of the main problems with a print engine, a possibility of the analysis of factory defects
- Optimization of the park of the equipment: remote recovery connected on USB devices and expanded support of the park of the equipment of HP
- Enhanced capabilities of data collection and drawing of accounts: further reliability augmentation of architecture of contents of documents (DCA) for the notification on transition of DCA or devices in a standalone mode and removal of data on serial number
- Notifications about operability of the device:
- a possibility of the choice of the events initiating notifications in real time;
- detection of cases when counters of service LLC (Long Life Consumables) are not reset after replacement;
- informing on a problem on a control panel the device that end users could contact proactively the reseller at emergence of problems with printing.
The SDS tool kit of version 2.0 will be available since spring of 2018 in the existing software to management of the park of the equipment of third-party producers for resellers HP.
