2020: The crash in Dubai

On June 9, 2020 it became known of the crash of the flying Hoversurf Scorpion motorcycle during its tests in Dubai. Hoverbayk failed on asphalt from height about 30 meters after failure in electronics.

Testing began with the fact that the pilot of Hoversurf Scorpion lifted in air the motorcycle with four screws which works by the principle of the quadcopter. The man at first tried to balance at height, however after unsuccessful attempt started decrease. The on-board computer could not vyrovnit, and it made hard landing. When falling the device damaged a back part and collapsed.

At the same time both front screws continued to rotate and could wound the pilot if threw him in their direction. According to the New Atlas edition, the pilot did not suffer. A bicycle helmet and clothes from dense fabric with protective inserts was put on him.

All security systems worked well. Exactly thanks to such incidents our constructions become safer — reported in Hoversurf company, having commented on accident.

As the founder and  the CEO of HoverSurf company Alexander Atamanov explained, falling of the flying motorcycle happened because of technical fault — the barometer refused.

Thanks to automatic equipment and  the systems of a passive bezopasnosa the pilot survived.  Sic itur ad astra  — such is a way to  stars — he wrote on the page on Facebook.

It should be noted that tests or demonstration flights of the individual flying means of type of hoverbayk seldom are carried out over the firm platform. More often it is done over water that still exotic aircraft did not bury under the pilot's fragments if there is an emergency situation. The Russian developers decided to risk, and achieved permission for flight over the concrete platform.^[1]

2017

The developer a hoverbayka will release the flying autotaxi

The Russian company Hoversurf, the developer of the flying Scorpion 3 electromotorcycle, until the end of 2018 will start the flying Formula autotaxi. It is the five-seater drone taxi worth $97 thousand similar to the flying cars from the fantastic movie "The Fifth Element" by Luc Besson. "This machine will create the new market", – the founder of Hoversurf Atamanov Alexander is sure.^[2]

Alexander Atamanov lives on Ilyinskoye Highway, and its office is located in the innovation center "Skolkovo".

I want to reach without traffic jams work, – the businessman explains intention of the flying car, – and it is wanted by all.

Now in Skolkovo Formula prototype prepares. For production needs Atamanov's company already purchased the big 3D-printer for $100 thousand and delivered it in the center. For it parts of future Formula and, perhaps, the Scorpion 3 electromotorcycle will also be printed. If to trust creators, Formula will have to fly on distances up to 450 km, dispersing up to 320 km/h. However the weight of the machine and height by which it can rise do not reveal yet. In February, 2017 Hoversurf already presented hoverbayk (the flying electromotorcycle) Scorpion 3. For flight on it rather simple notification of managers of Rosaviatsiya; and case with Formula – still not clearly will be here is how. There are no orders for the flying machine yet.

They also cannot be: it is a product which will create the market, – explains Atamans.

As Alexander Atamanov explained, Formula is a machine which combines in itself a kopter and the airplane, and they duplicate each other. If the wing fails – the kopter will make landing. If the kopter breaks – the airplane will help to land. The electric turbine of the flying car is set in motion by means of electric motors therefore the machine does not need filling with motor fuel. For implementation of flight it is necessary to load or replace the accumulator block. The electric turbine is based on Venturi's effect. The sense is that in an output flow of the turbine by injection the normal atmospheric air drags on, creating an additional flow and reducing noise of a high-speed stream in a flow.

An additional role is played by a phenomenon of acceleration of the gas environment by means of a nozzle of Laval in the form of which the internal turbine housing is executed. The dynamic wing is created on an image of wings at birds. 3D technologies - printings allowed to make it easy and strong. And electric actuators allow to set to the computer necessary attack angle for creation of lifting force or to put a wing on the parking. DYNAMICWING much effective use of ailerons, or flaps, for maneuvering of the aircraft as here all area of a wing – as works for a bird.

Investors of Formula – the CEO of Qiwi Sergey Solonin, the managing partner of Starta Capital Alexey Girin, the owner of Yakhnich motosport company Alexander Yakhnich. The United Arab Emirates (UAE) suggest to start production of these taxi at them – Arabs are even ready to buy these cars. As you know, Dubai already permitted flights of drones taxi. The USA has interest in the flying taxi also, Colombia, Brazil, Singapore.

In what a problem of all projects of the flying cars? All of them are made for the future. Ours is created for the present. It became possible thanks to revolutionary technology – the electric turbine of Venturi developed by us and to a dynamic wing, allowed to get rid of propellers and to save the compact sizes of the flying Formula car, – the child of Atamans praises the. – There are no propellers, also the airfield or the helipad are not necessary.

In standard convertiplanes propellers turn for transition from the mode of vertical take-off to the mode of the airplane and often create accidents. Inventors, engineers and scientists from around the world take part in development of the machines Hoversurf. The company tells about the work in social networks and on Youtube. However experts see at the defect machine.

It is worth paying more attention to a management system for flight. Nobody in the world solved this problem yet, – the CEO of Ulichnye Lazery LLC Anton Usachev advises Hoversurf. – In the world there are 4 technologies of pilotless sight, and only one has a working prototype for speeds no more ~ 10km/h. It is Velodyne which everywhere and costs. Other all – Quonergy, Bosch, PringstonTech and their less known analogs. But all this NIRY which needs some more years. Thus what is already enclosed in each of them for $150 million as of October, 2016.

Atamanov, nevertheless, says that the problem of pilotless sight is already solved.

The volume of preorders for the flying Scorpion 3 electromotorcycle reached 2000

The flying Scorpion 3 electromotorcycle intended for patrol of the area was presented in October, 2017 at the Gitex 2017 exhibition in Dubai. According to the Invest-Forsayt edition, by the beginning of December the volume of preorders for the machine reached nearly 2000. Meanwhile, the bike costs nearly $60 thousand, and the amount of the preorder is $120 million. Among buyers – police of Dubai, sheriffs of several southern states of the USA, individuals.

The bike is expected one or two passengers with a total weight up to 300 kg, can be controlled remotely. Rises by 5 meters above the ground and about 21 km at a speed of 70 km/h are capable to fly by. Besides, is able to move on the ground in the mode of the normal motorcycle: there will last charge for 8 hours with a maximum speed in 200 km/h. The pilot license for management of innovation will not be required, the weight of the aircraft is 104 kg (229 pounds) with the accumulator.

The police of Dubai, probably, will purchase two samples Scorpion 3, but it is rather marketing mix, for involvement of tourists and maintenance of the status of the hi-tech power, – the owner of Yakhnich motosport company Alexander Yakhnich says.

The flying bike will be made where exactly, the founder of Hoversurf Alexander Atamanov does not specify: so far their command selects the platform among the industrial companies.

Perhaps ourselves will also not make, and just we will begin to develop the production technology of the flying electromotorcycle and taxi. The company has several patents. The matter is that there is a problem with a regulation: actually this transport in Russia does not exist. It is simpler to us to be focused on technology and to sell licenses, – Yakhnich says. – Such bike – only, is the big heavy drone released both in passenger and in cargo execution.

In the company, by the way, do also the collector drone for Sberbank.

The device is similar to the motorcycle, but in fact it is rather a prototype of the platform on which the set of vehicles can be constructed, – the head of Vnesheconombank Sergey Gorkov says about the flying bike. – Its future is many-sided; there is a possibility of creation of the whole family of different vehicles and transportation.

Police of Dubai issued the flying motorcycles

The police of Dubai which are already using as field officers of the machines Lamborghini, self-moving robots and police officers androids decided to perform also patrol from air, using for this device which it is possible to describe precisely the flying motorcycles, reported on October 13, 2017 the CNN.com portal.

The vehicle which is called Scorpion is designed by the Russian technology company Hoversurf and looks as a hybrid of the motorcycle and quadcopter. For movement in air in it four propellers are used, and the goer is located between them quite close to open blades of propellers. The flying motorcycle can gather speed to 70 km/h, be airborne up to 25 minutes at the height up to 5 m, takes one seat, can bear loading to 270 kg and also work in a standalone mode. Maximum height of flight of Scorpion is, according to the producer, up to 28.5 m, however, for safety reasons, in police of Dubai decided to limit flight altitude only of police 5 m.

After demonstration of Scorpion at a hi-tech exhibition, the police of Dubai made the decision to include this flying motorcycle in the list of modern gadgets which testing of use takes place within the concept of "the smart cities".

As the CEO of Hoversurf Alexander Atamanov on the Facebook page reported, the company signed the memorandum of understanding with police of Dubai and received the invitation to arrange serial production of the flying motorcycles in Dubai.

At the Gitex Technology exhibition in Dubai Scorpion adjoined to a new concept of the electromotorcycle of the Japanese firm Mikasa – it though is chained to the earth, but is capable to gather speed to 200 km/h, and looks as one of vehicles of the movie "Throne".^[3]
