Launch of motherboard production for 2 billion rubles
At the end of November 2022, ICL spoke about the production of motherboards at a new plant in Tatarstan. We are talking about an enterprise on the territory of the special economic zone (SEZ) Innopolis"" c. Tatarstan
According to Yevgeny Stepanov, General Director of ICL JSC, assembly production and new conveyor lines will be launched in the first quarter of 2023. The third quarter of the same year is scheduled to launch motherboard production.
Investments in the project are estimated at 2 billion rubles. The plant will be able to produce motherboards in the amount of 300 thousand products per year, with an increase of up to 1 million products per year.
The total area of the facility will be about 8 thousand sq.m.; it will include surface mounting workshops for printed circuit boards and 7 automated conveyor lines for assembly and testing of finished products. The technological capacity of the plant will also ensure serial production of the full cycle of both the current and promising product portfolio of the ICL group of companies: all-in-ones, thin clients, interactive panels, servers, storage systems.
The solemn launch of the construction of the motherboard plant in the Innopolis SEZ took place in early October in Moscow. Viktor Dyachkov, Chairman of the Board of Directors of ICL Group of Companies, then noted that the company expects to enter the production of 1 million printed circuit boards within the next three years. This, he said, will close 10% of the Russian market.
According to the official website of the company, ICL develops computing equipment, is engaged in consulting, application development, provides services for virtualizations and cloud computing, etc. The company was founded in 1991 as a joint venture of the Kazan Production Association of Computing Systems (KPO VS) and the British company International Computers Limited. From 2002 to 2013 ICL was part of the Japanese manufacturer's group. By the electronic engineers Fujitsu end of 2022, the companies are partners.[1]
Release of the server board on the domestic processor
At the end of January 2022, ICL Techno presented, as it claims, the first Russian server board with a domestic processor. The novelty is equipped with 12 slots for installing RAM modules and a set of PCIe slots for expansion cards.
The server board received a Baikal-S (BE-S1000) processor with 48 Cortex-A75 cores with a clock speed of 2 to 2.5 GHz, hardware virtualization and a large set of high-speed interfaces. It is possible to use up to 768 GB of DDR4-3200 RAM. 80 PCIe 4.0 lines are available.
Baikal-S (BE-S1000) at TSMC using 16nm technology. The high-performance processor is designed for servers, DSS, and supercomputing systems for the B2G and B2B market segments. The board is designed for single-processor servers.
ICL Techno plans to create a whole line of products based on domestic processors as part of the import substitution program. In addition, by the end of January 2022, the manufacturer began designing a new plant for the production of its own computers.
Important for the entire industry remains the issue of import substitution. I would like to thank the main supplier of computer equipment in Tatarstan, ICL Group, which has begun designing a new plant to expand the production of computers. I also consider it expedient for ICL to consider the full production cycle of motherboards and processors for computers, - said the Minister of Digital Development of Public Administration, Information Technologies of Tatarstan Airat Khairullin, commenting on the creation of a server board by the company. |
It is not specified when the product will enter the mass market by the end of January 2022.[2]
