iiii Tech unveiled its cloud on June 20, 2023.

Against the background of the ban on the use of VMware products in Russia, iiiiTech (ex Tietoevry Russia) has developed a solution that could replace the capabilities of the departed vendor in the context of organizing IaaS services . In March 2023, a productive platform was put into operation.

Since the spring of 2022, interest in clouds built on open source or domestic software has increased. Companies have tried to reduce the risk of platform problems.

The goal of iiiiTech was to find a suitable technology stack for organizing IaaS services. The search and testing of the products took about two months. Both commercially supported and open source products were considered. As a result of the searches, Apache CloudStack open source software was chosen as the cloud management system. This product is suitable for organizing hybrid clouds of any size. It has the most similar set of services to VMware Cloud Director. Plugin system - there is no need to change the product itself when integrating your own services. The open source project XCP-NG was chosen as the main hypervisor. In addition to this hypervisor, Apache CloudStack also allows you to include others in the cloud: KVM, Oracle VM server and Microsoft Hyper-V.

The production platform was equipped with a self-service portal for customers. Login to the portal can be protected using the built-in two-factor authentication function. Also, platform users have the opportunity to organize a multi-level structural hierarchy within the organization.

When creating virtual machines, the platform user can select both ready-made combinations of processor and memory, and specify values ​ ​ manually. In addition, the platform supports the automatic addition of an ssh key pair to Linux machines at first startup. The user can add his public key or generate it by the platform.

In addition to the ability to automatically create Kubernetes clusters of various versions and sizes, the platform supports version updates, manual and automatic scaling. AutoScaling allows you to automatically scale your application infrastructure to meet your requirements, saving up to 70% of your resources.

Also, the platform makes it possible to independently configure Firewall. In addition, the possibilities of publishing services for NAT (Port mapping), load balancing TCP and TCP-Proxy, VPN Site2Site (IPSEC), remote access via VPN for users (L2TP/IPSEC) and a private gateway for connecting third-party sites through data transmission channels or dark optics are implemented.

This productive platform from iiiiTech after launch began to be used on the company's internal projects. As of June 2023, the platform is used by a large number of users: existing and new customers of the company.
