The reasons for this decision are not called. According to an Interfax source in government circles, Kaspersky Lab itself asked for this. The press service of Kaspersky Lab declined to comment on the agency's request.

At the same time, Kaspersky Lab antivirus remains in the list of software for pre-installation on smartphones and tablet computers running Android.

A new list of Russian programs mandatory for pre-installation on smartphones, computers and smart TVs sold on the Russian market was introduced on January 1, 2022. 2019: Vulnerability that allows you to track the user on the Internet

On August 16, 2019, it became known that a vulnerability was found in Kaspersky Lab's security software that allows you to track a user on the Internet. She was noticed by researcher Ronald Eikenberg, an employee of the German publication c't. Vulnerabilities were assigned the number CVE-2019-8286.

In order to detect malicious activity on visited sites, the Laboratory software injects Javascript code into an Internet browser. The code makes it possible to understand whether a site is safe.

The problem is that the same code assigns a unique identifier to the device, which can be read by any site and used to monitor the user on the Internet. The code and ID may look like this: https://gc.kis.v2.scr.kaspersky-labs.com/9344FDA7-AFDF-4BA0-A915-4D7EEB9A6615/main.js.

When a user re-visits the same site, or visits another site of the same operator, these resources see that it is the same device. Incognito mode does not help, Eikenberg writes, and nothing depends on which browser is used.

As noted in CNews, the Laboratory software has been using Javascript code injection since the fall of 2015. It is used in a number of products, including Kaspersky Lab Internet Security and Kaspersky Lab Free Anti-Virus. Eikenberg tried to create a site to see if he could retrieve and read unique identifiers. The researcher was quite quick to succeed and wondered, since he needed so little time for this, could anyone else use this method over the past four years.

However, the Laboratory believes that vulnerability does not pose a significant threat. According to the company, it investigated the problem and came to the conclusion that such a scenario of violation of privacy is theoretically possible, but is unlikely to be used in practice due to the complexity of implementation and low utility for criminals.

Having received information from Eikenberg, the Laboratory released a corresponding patch in June 2019. However, the user can easily protect himself from the threat manually - for this it is enough to go to the "Settings," go to the "Additional," then to the "Network," then to the "Traffic processing" and clear the check mark there from the "Enter script into web traffic for interaction with web pages."

However, the company changed the site validation process by deleting the unique identifier. After that, all devices on which the Laboratory software operates are assigned the same identifier. Eikenberg also considers this method not safe enough, because the identifier gives the attacker the antivirus of which manufacturer is used on the device. This could be valuable information for a hacker.

2017: Recognition as the best in the world

In October 2017, the German antivirus laboratory  AV-Test  published the results of comprehensive testing of antiviruses. According to the study, Kaspersky Internet Security is the best antivirus in the world. More details here.

2016: Kaspersky Internet Security for all devices

On August 24, 2016, Kaspersky Lab introduced a version of the Kaspersky Internet Security home user protection solution for all devices.

The product offers users additional protection when connecting through public Wi-Fi networks. The technology will support when upgrading obsolete and removing unnecessary software.

Specifically to protect public Wi-Fi users, this version of the Windows product has the Secure Connection feature. The product module securely connects to public wireless networks via an encrypted communication channel. "Secure Connection" encrypts all data transmitted and received from the Internet[3].

Two more functions in Kaspersky Internet Security for all devices help the user manage the software and monitor its timely update - a module called "Update programs" finds applications and programs that require updates, and, with the user's consent, installs the latest official versions from developers.

On user devices there is software that has not been worked with for a long time, the existence of which has been forgotten or did not know. To save users from the risks of slowing down devices, the potential possibility of creating conditions for the entry of malware (malicious action software), Kaspersky Lab has included the "Uninstall Programs" feature in Kaspersky Internet Security for all devices - the module scans all installed software and identifies programs that the user almost does not work with and those that he probably does not know about the existence. Having received a message about the presence of such programs, the user himself will decide to remove them.

File:Aquote1.png
We believe that IT security is not only a matter of the effectiveness of a protective solution, but also of digital literacy. A user with a high level of cyber literacy usually behaves carefully and carefully on the Internet and at the same time is ready to use the latest technologies to protect personal information, files, privacy secrets, devices themselves or the peace of mind of other family members. And we strive to give the user such opportunities with each new version of our solutions.

2014: New Kaspersky Internet Security for all devices

The updated solution contains not only proven tools to counter cyber threats, but also a number of new functions to ensure a high degree of privacy of the user. And all this against the background of optimized performance of a solution whose active work does not affect the performance of the computer and the programs running on it.

As a study conducted by Kaspersky Lab together with B2B International in 2014 showed, electronic devices are far from just gadgets to access the Network. Users trust them with their personal lives, valuable information, and even money. According to the survey, 68% of Russian users store particularly sensitive information on devices and are afraid that someone may see it. Another 52% are afraid of hidden surveillance through a webcam. And 79% regularly make financial transactions on the Internet, entering confidential banking data on various websites.

Such a variety of activities, information and devices certainly requires careful protection. And the developers of Kaspersky Lab took this into account.

For example, a special mode for making financial transactions on the Secure Payments Network now protects not only browsers and computer screens, but also the data clipboard from unauthorized access. And this means that attackers have no chance to intercept valuable information when transmitting data from the user to the payment service.

Another new feature in Kaspersky Internet Security for all devices is the protection of the webcam. It is no secret that one of the common methods of cyber espionage is hacking a webcam and intercepting images that it broadcasts. To prevent valuable information, in particular credit card data or bank account details, as well as actions that a person performs in the coverage area of the camera, from falling into the hands of intruders, Kaspersky Lab has included a special feature of protection against unauthorized connection to the webcam in the new version of Kaspersky Internet Security for all devices. The new technology tracks any applications that attempt to communicate with the webcam, warns the user of such attempts, and blocks access to the camera if necessary.

The risk of losing valuable data also comes from encryption programs, which not only make files unreadable, but often require a ransom for restoring access to information. This problem cannot be solved simply by removing malware, but with the new Kaspersky Internet Security, data can be restored for all devices. The enhanced activity monitoring function now not only analyzes all processes occurring in the operating system, but also automatically creates backups of files that have contact with a suspicious program. If the information still undergoes any malicious changes, the product will automatically restore the backup of the file.

Another favorite reception of attackers is intercepting data through an unprotected Wi-Fi connection. Now Kaspersky Internet Security for all devices will greatly complicate this task. The new Wi-Fi Public Network Security Check evaluates the reliability and security of an access point and warns the user if a potential hazard is detected. In addition, the solution gives users tips and recommendations for setting up a secure Wi-Fi network in their own home. The updated solution also controls Internet traffic through Wi-Fi, 3G and 4G networks, which helps the user optimize mobile Internet costs.

In addition, the Parental Control function now supports safe searches on the VKontakte social network, so that the child can only see those videos that suit him according to age restrictions.

Finally, each owner of the device, on which the new version of Kaspersky Internet Security is installed for all devices, can be sure that the security software used by him contains the most advanced technologies, since the process of downloading updates has now become automatic.

"Modern users are already quite aware of cyber threats, and today we see that they are beginning to truly worry about the safety of their valuable data and fear any invasion of their privacy. That is why we pay great attention to the creation of an integrated security system that can ensure a high degree of confidentiality and security not only of the "digital world" of the user, but also of his real life, "said Vladimir Zapolyansky, vice president of product and technology marketing at Kaspersky Lab.

2013: New Meta Scanner Technology

Kaspersky Lab has updated protection for home PC users. In the new Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Kaspersky Internet Security for all devices, the company's specialists have seriously improved existing technologies, as well as added a number of completely new applications, such as Meta-Scanner antivirus technology and Screen Lock Protection.

New versions of Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Kaspersky Internet Security are designed to meet the growing security requirements of users. Both products received a unique anti-virus technology "Meta-scanner," which checks files for fragments of malicious code characteristic of exploitative programs. The Meta-Scanner is designed primarily to search for and block the newest and most dangerous threats that data about which may be missing in anti-virus databases.

However, even if the threat is not among the newest and most complex, it can pose a serious danger, even for users whose computers are protected by an anti-virus solution. This type includes ransomware, many of which block the user from interacting with the computer and require money in exchange for unlocking. Most of these programs are successfully detected by antiviruses, but often inexperienced users install them, ignoring security warnings. For example, in a case where the malware is disguised as a music file or a legitimate application that the user wishes to run. Thanks to the new technology "Screen lock protection" in Kaspersky Anti-Virus and Kaspersky Internet Security, blockers are no longer a threat. If a user whose computer is protected by one of Kaspersky Lab's two new solutions sees a message on the screen about blocking a PC with a demand for redemption, he will simply need to press a combination of keys, after which protection from screen blocking programs will find and remove the malicious, completely restoring the computer.

Another important innovation in the latest version of Kaspersky Internet Security was the intelligent "Safe Programs Mode." The technology protects the computer, allowing only those applications that are recognized as trusted to run. Thanks to a multi-level system for verifying the legitimacy of programs and an intelligent system for adapting to a specific user, this mode is able to provide a high level of security. The "safe application mode" is based on a vast, constantly replenished base of legitimate Kaspersky Lab applications. In total, the database contains more than 700 million unique files, which include detailed descriptions of all popular applications among users, including operating systems, browsers, programs for viewing images and video files, games, etc.

2011: Kaspersky Internet Security 2012

In August 2011, updated versions of Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 and Kaspersky AntiVirus 2012 products were released, which use a new protection technique that combines the benefits of cloud and local threat detection mechanisms. The new line offers an appreciation of the increased performance and advanced functionality of the Safe Run mechanism, a modified user interface that provides quick access to key tools and functions and a number of other improvements.

As mentioned above, the key innovation introduced in Kaspersky's new product line is the unique combination of cloud and local security. This hybrid approach allows the application to minimize the burden on system resources by storing a database of virus signatures outside the hard drive, and using information anonymously provided by members of the community will help to cope with little-studied and new threats.

A refined Safe Run sandbox mode is available for users to run applications and websites in a secure sandbox environment. An updated antivirus scanner, available from the Windows Explorer context menu, will make it easier to scan individual files. The URL Advisor module, which prevents visiting malicious sites, is supported by the Google Chrome browser. The System Watcher component, which tracks all changes in the operation of the PC, is equipped with a useful Rollback function, which will return the system to a pre-infection state (in the event that attempts to cure were unsuccessful).

The updated application interface deserves a separate mention. Information about the current system status is now displayed at the top of the screen, and at the bottom you can see buttons for quick access to key product features (scanning, downloading updates, parental controls) and additional tools. Compact icons in the upper right corner of the work window allow you to open the settings dialog box or examine the generated reports. Developers are confident that the new interface fully meets the specific needs of both beginners and experienced users.

Specialists from CNET Labs, who have subjected the new products to thorough testing, also report shortcomings found. For example, testers warn that the initial scan of the system using Kaspersky 2012 takes quite a long time. However, subsequent checks are performed much faster, thanks to the caching of individual files marked as safe.

Users should also be aware that new security features have a noticeable effect on the speed of boot and shutdown. Owners of powerful modern computers accustomed to a quick boot of the Windows 7 desktop need to prepare for a period of preparation for the system to run for almost a minute longer.

2010: Kaspersky Internet Security 2011

On August 25, 2010, sales of new versions of Kaspersky Lab products for home users will start in Russia: Kaspersky Anti-Virus 2011 (KAV) and Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 (KIS).

In new versions, compared to KAV and KIS 2010, a number of features have been improved, as well as some new ones have been added. The latter include, for example, web filter and geo filter, program activity monitoring, and the Win7/Vista desktop gadget.

The web filter available in KIS 2011 includes a link checking module that informs the user of suspicious and dangerous sites, as well as a module that blocks access to these resources. When working in this mode, a reputational assessment of IP addresses is carried out, which takes into account, for example, parameters such as the presence of malicious code or links to dangerous sites, and the level of attendance. When the web filter is enabled, access to suspicious and dangerous sites is automatically blocked.

Another new feature - geo-filter - allows you to block the domains of leading countries by the number of infected sites, after which you will not be able to access these resources. As for monitoring program activity, this technology monitors all actions performed by programs in the system by comparing the behavior of each program with models of malware behavior. Malware actions are blocked and quarantined. If the program is not uniquely malicious, then the user will be given the choice of what to do with it.

The desktop gadget for Win7/Vista is an interface element located on the desktop of the computer, which gives quick access to the main functionality of the product.

As for improved features, Kaspersky Internet Security 2011, for example, developers have expanded the capabilities of the Parental Control module. Now it allows you to limit the total time to use the computer, prohibit access to certain programs on the computer and download certain types of files, as well as control - view or block - the correspondence of any user of the computer through IM clients (ICQ, MSN) and on social networks (FaceBook, MySpace and Twitter).

Developers and reputation services have improved - that is, online databases containing information about trusted and suspicious programs and sites. For example, if there is no data in reputation services about the program that the user starts, then he is provided with statistics on the use of this program by other users participating in the Kaspersky Security Network program. Statistics include such items as the number of people who trust and do not trust this program, as well as how long this program has become known and how many people have already used it. Based on these statistics, the user can allow the program or block it in whole or in part.

A number of new features also apply to the product installation process. For example, new versions of products during installation will automatically prompt the user to remove his old antivirus from another manufacturer.
