In mid-June 2023, Alexei Chuklin, head of the scientific activities directorate of Sevastopol State University, director of the Moreagrobiotech scientific and educational center, presented the Locust-10 unmanned aerial vehicle developed by the university.

According to Chuklin, this drone differs in that it uses a propeller-ring engine. This allows you to increase its lift, as well as work in difficult conditions - over the sea, in the mountains and in strong winds. Its feature is that the movement of the UAV here changes not by the engine frequency, but by turning the blade, like a helicopter, he stressed.

Drone "Locust-10"

According to the developers of Locust-10, it can be used both in the civilian sector - in agriculture or in the delivery of goods, and for military purposes, which its creators have not yet specified.

The payload of the device is still 20 kg, but designers are working to increase this figure. It is planned that it can hang on a cable at an altitude of 20 m and, having constant food, be in this position around the clock. The UAV is capable of operating for about four hours without recharging.

"Locust-10" became the next drone developed in. Sevastopol Earlier, the president Russia Vladimir Putin instructed the government, together with the ANO "Platform of the National Technological Initiative," to work out the creation of centers in the regions to support the production and testing of drones.
