2024: Adaptation for different action scenarios in a humanized environment

The digital model of the universal robot created at MIPT was adapted for various scenarios of actions in a humanized environment controlled by artificial intelligence. The project meets the requirements of technological sovereignty - the digital model, artificial intelligence algorithms and the design of the robot were developed by Russian specialists and operates on domestic software. The university announced this on June 14, 2024.

Based on the digital model of the robot, Fiztech engineers have developed a working research sample of an anthropomorphic robot, the movements of which are controlled by artificial intelligence. The machine has a computer vision system - using video data from the optical camera system, the robot is able to build a map and navigate in space, and a voice assistant is being tested to communicate with the user/operator.

Projects to create universal anthropomorphic machines are a key global trend in robotics. The existing technological level of industry development is quite enough to begin training the behavioral intelligence of a robot, for example, performing tasks in a warehouse, working as a courier or order collector in a darkstore. An anthropomorphic robot is able to take on routine tasks: lifting weights, removing goods from shelves and placing them in containers, descending with loads on stairs.

Major automakers manufacturers BMW, Mercedes and representatives of digital retail, in particular, Amazon, are doing the first tests with humanoid robots on their assembly line and in warehouses. They need this not only to close the labor shortage, but also to collect an array of data for further training neural networks with more complex tasks. It is neural networks that will have to become a universal brain for robots. At the MIPT digital training ground, we are also investigating various designs of robots, walking platforms and modernizing their control on AI algorithms, "said Roman Gorbachev, head of the laboratory of wave processes and control systems at the MIPT Center for Applied Artificial Intelligence Systems.

The MIPT development group has created a library of engineering solutions, which contains various models of robots. All the form factors of machines presented in the digital storage showed the greatest energy efficiency, as well as the most adapted to work in a man-oriented environment.

According to Yegor Davydenko, a leading programmer-developer of the laboratory of wave processes and control systems, it is not necessary to redo the space of an office, warehouse or factory shop specifically for such a robot - the machine is able to "integrate" into production and technological processes that already exist with the participation of people.
