Oracle SuperCluster M6-32 is a hardware and software system. In its structure of the same name software and the SPARC M6-32 server about 32 TB RAM running Oracle Solaris OS.
On September 22, 2013 the Oracle corporation announced the SPARC M6-32 server and the optimized hardware and software system SuperCluster M6‑32 on the basis of new 12-core SPARC M6 processors with clock rate of 3.6 GHz.
Description
The SPARC M6-32 servers can be equipped with OZU to the 32nd terabyte, have up to 384 main cores and ensure operation of applications and DBMS in RAM, implementing very high performance. Oracle SuperCluster M6-32 is the fastest and scalable hardware and software system of Oracle which integrates the SPARC M6-32 servers with Exadata Storage Server, it is optimized for ensuring high performance of Oracle Database.
Advantages
Considerable amount of RAM in the SPARC M6-32 server in combination with a full range of the means of virtualization provided free of charge turns it into the platform for consolidation of crucial tasks.
SPARC M6-32 server:
- allows to place business applications and databases completely in RAM and can provide a 7-fold gain of performance of DBMS when using calculations in RAM, in comparison with standard practicians.
- supports electrically the isolated dynamic domains that provides complete isolation of failures, security and service for ensuring the maximum availability and accomplishment of the consolidated working tasks.
The software of Oracle VM Server for SPARC allows to create up to 128 virtual machines in each dynamic domain, for virtualization of arrays of memory and input-output of the SPARC M6-32 server. The Oracle Solaris Zones technology provides detailed distribution and isolation of resources, increasing flexibility and efficiency of virtualization.
Oracle SuperCluster M6-32 expands a line of Oracle SuperCluster and can provide:
- 10-20-fold performance improvement of the major business applications supporting such processes as closing of financial periods, cost management, forecasting and planning using business applications of Oracle In-Memory Applications to increase dynamics of business and to help customers to open new opportunities for growth, to make the best decisions and to accelerate accomplishment of workloads;
- 10-fold increase in speed of accomplishment of requests to databases and report generation;
- 10-fold data compression;
- 5-fold acceleration of an output of products to the market and 3-fold reduction of time of administration and maintenance, in comparison with approaches "make itself";
- the highest readiness thanks to lack of a uniform point of failure and the highest levels of consolidation of any server of Oracle.
Management of all stack and lifecycle of cloud resources for the SPARC M6-32 server and the SuperCluster M6-32 complex provides Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c. The uniform control of the equipment is provided with the solution Oracle Enterprise Manager Ops Center 12c without additional payment within technical support of Oracle Premier Support.
