2018: Development of Orion-Drone

On August 13, 2018 the State Corporation Rostec announced that the Schwabe holding developed the Orion-Drone drone equipped with a set of the optical equipment which allows to perform monitoring in the visible, ultra-violet and short-wave range of an infrared spectrum. Thanks to the SWIR camera the drone can observe even in the conditions of nil visibility.

According to the developer, the small-size, easy-to-control drone can be used for assessment of a status of a paving, identification of offenses, control of a utilities equipment, detection of leak of gases and also in the conditions of emergencies, accidents and natural disasters.

Orion-Drone is equipped with the ultra-violet camera (ULTRA camera) and the camera of short-wave infrared range of a range (SWIR camera) from which video broadcast is transferred to the pilot's monitor, with a possibility of switching between cameras from the control panel. The main advantage of the drone, according to the developer, is existence of the SWIR camera which accepts the radiation proceeding not from objects, and reflected by them with high extent of detailing.

"The drone transmits a signal in real time at distance to 10 km. Speed of its flight is 100 kilometers per hour. Operating time on one recharge – about an hour that allows to carry out monitoring on considerable removal from an operations control room. Main advantage of the drone – its optics which allows to observe in the conditions of strong fog, smoke, a rain or snowfall".

Thanks to a possibility of hangup and approach to a necessary object, Orion-Drone obtains the most exact data on the studied objects, and the mounted infrared and ultra-violet cameras allow to perform the round-the-clock observation at any weather and climatic conditions, claim in Schwab.

Orion-Drone does not require specially prepared platform for start. At signal loss from the operator the drone automatically returns to a take-off point. The original system of folding beams and quick disconnect fastening of an overhead equipment provide convenience of transportation and compact storage, the developer noted.
