Video surveillance system Orwell 2k is a high-tech video surveillance solution. The video surveillance system is designed to ensure the security of objects around the clock by automatically detecting and recognizing targets (people and cars) and transmitting in real time video information about emergency situations to the operator.

Orwell 2k Operating Principle

The Orwell 2k video surveillance system implements the principle: one object - one operator. According to it, even the largest protected area in terms of scale, equipped with hundreds of cameras, does not require a large staff to monitor the facility. One automated workstation (AWS) of the operator is sufficient, to which messages about abnormal situations are displayed. The operator is able to independently process them and make a decision.

Orwell 2k functions

  • Recognition of targets (people, cars, left object, smoke, fire) and alarming situations in real time from a video image obtained from stationary video cameras (Master cameras). As fixed cameras, visible range cameras or thermal imagers can be used.
  • Detection and automatic targeting of rotary video cameras called Slave cameras.
  • Generate a database of recognized targets in real time.
  • Binding of viewing areas of fixed video cameras to the map of the guarded object, projection of mnemonics of moving targets onto the map of the object.
  • Issue an audiovisual signal to the operator in the event of an alarm situation.

Similar to the human eye, the Orwell 2k video surveillance system highlights targets or situations from the panoramic image and "focuses vision" on them through rotary cameras. Situations and targets have a variety of characteristics that are recorded with the video in the database.

Parameters such as:

  • target type;
  • Target Identification Number (ID)
  • the number of the video camera that detected the target;
  • date and time when the target appeared and disappeared;
  • photos of targets obtained from rotary cameras;
  • video segments of the target's behavior with a background.

2022: As part of the complex for ensuring the safety of human life and the environment

The development of ElVIS-NeoTech will ensure the safety of human life and the environment. Rusnano reported this on October 13, 2022. The system includes a software and hardware platform for emergency prevention with computer vision Orwell 2k. Read more here.

2018: Unified Register of Russian Programs

ElVIS-NeoTech (portfolio company RUSNANO) announced in April 2018 that the Orwell 2k computer vision video surveillance system was included in the Unified Register of Russian Computer and Database Programs of the Ministry of Communications of Russia in accordance with Ministry Order No. 157 of April 12, 2018.

The development of ELVIS-NeoTek is included in the register of four product classes: Server and Binding Software, Monitoring and Control Systems, Systems for Collecting, Storing, Processing, Analyzing, Modeling and Visualizing Data Sets, Information Systems for Solving Specific Industry Problems.

"The inclusion of the Orwell 2k system in the register of domestic software is an important step for the company 'ElVIS-NeoTech'. Now our partners and customers have the opportunity to ensure the fulfillment of the requirements of the Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of November 16, 2015 N 1236 "On the establishment of a ban on the admission of software originating from foreign countries for the purpose of making purchases to meet state and municipal needs," - said the technical director of "ElVIS-NeoTech" Tsurko Denis.

2017: Orwell 2k 3.1 released

On May 24, 2017, ElVIS-NeoTech announced the release of the Orwell 2k 3.1 video surveillance system with computer vision.

Video analytics

The Orwell 2k software version implements neural network analytical filters, they allow for effective automatic detection and classification of targets ("person," "group of people," "vehicle") with a minimum level of false alarms in difficult surveillance conditions (illumination, shaking, weather conditions).

Merging into a Global System

Orwell 2k 3.1 allows you to combine various geographically distributed video surveillance systems into a single global system. This was made possible through Orwell 2k-Enterprise technology. Now, long configuration is not required to combine systems, the result is achieved using intuitive tools.

Compliance with safety requirements

Orwell 2k 3.1 complies with the requirements of Decree of the Government of the Russian Federation of 05.05.2012 No. 458 "On Approval of the Rules for Ensuring Security and Anti-Terrorist Protection of Fuel and Energy Complex Facilities."

Access to Cerberus Archive

Orwell 2k software has developed progressive tools for controlling access to archived information, Orwell 2k completely eliminates the possibility of service information leakage. In addition, the software version implements the delimitation of user access rights through. ONVIF SDK

The Juggling Cam module allows you to quickly switch video cameras between servers while maintaining all settings.

2016: New laser-lit cameras integrated in Orwell 2k

In the spring of 2016, the integration of new laser-illuminated cameras into the Orwell 2k computer vision video surveillance system was announced. The use of laser-lit video cameras in the Orwell 2k video surveillance system allows you to get a clear image at any time of the day and automatically detect targets at a distance of up to 400 meters (in the absence of precipitation).

Special algorithms of the Orwell 2k computer vision system automatically detect events (left objects, fires, etc.) and classify targets (a person, a group of people, a car, etc.), which allows you to automate the detection of violators, increase the level of security, reduce the negative impact of the human factor and reduce the number of video surveillance operators, according to ElVIS-NeoTech.

During the test tests, ElVIS-NeoTech specialists simulated situations with intruders entering the object in the dark. The Orwell 2k video surveillance system, in which laser cameras worked, automatically detected "violators" at a distance of 300 meters and notified the operator about this.

In general, ElVIS-NeoTech offers optimal solutions for automating the protection of facilities in various conditions that are used for round-the-clock all-weather protection of facilities, including at facilities of the Russian oil and gas complex (AK facilities, Transneft"", RusHydroGazprom"" etc.).

2015: Orwell 2k builds panoramic image using rotary video cameras and thermal imagers

Since the end of 2014, the Orwell 2k Computer Vision Video Surveillance System has been able to build a panoramic image on rotary cameras and thermal imagers and automatically detect moving targets (people, vehicles) in a panoramic image in real time. Building panoramic images on rotary cameras and thermal imagers allows:

  • ensure monitoring and protection of large areas using rotary video cameras or thermal imagers;
  • reduce the number of video and thermal imaging equipment used by using the new Orwell 2k capabilities for rotary video cameras and thermal imagers.

A fundamental addition to the panoramic imaging function is specially developed algorithms for detecting moving targets (people, vehicles) in panoramic images obtained from rotary video and thermal imaging cameras.

In the interface of the operator's workstation, an electronic map of the object is presented, on which the camera scanning sector (thermal imager) is applied. Also, a panorama is displayed on the operator's monitor, which scans and automatically detects moving targets (people, vehicles) in real time.

When detecting, the targets are marked with a frame on the panoramic image. The location of the detected targets is marked with an icon on the electronic map of the object.

The operator automatically receives real-time information from the Orwell 2k system about where the potential intruder is located and a video image for this purpose.

The ability to build panoramic images together with powerful algorithms of computer vision developed by ElVIS-NeoTech allows you to effectively use the Orwell 2k video surveillance system with computer vision using a minimum set of cameras for monitoring and protecting area objects, approaches to long objects, objects not equipped with a lighting system (thermal imaging analytics), etc.
