2022: Presentation of the software package for the management of the irrigation system of agricultural products
On June 24, 2022 Perm Polytech , he announced that the group, scientists which included their representative, had developed a way software package to allow control the irrigation system agricultural land. The project will help automate the process of watering plants, improving its quality, as well as saving fresh water and irrigation costs. For the southern regions Russia , the problem of rational use of water resources is relevant, since fresh water supplies are limited. The use of mineralized water for irrigation can lead to soil salinization and negative consequences for plants.
The development can be used for programming industrial controllers, this will create a domestic irrigation system with a tree topology of irrigation systems.
The researchers published the results in the Journal of Physics: Conference Series, Volume 2094, Cybernetics and IT. Scientists from the Perm GATU and the Perm Institute of the Federal Penitentiary Service of Russia also took part in the development. Researchers developed a watering scheme using the example of the Rus sanatorium (Anapa Krasnodar Territory).
In the southern regions of Russia, low rainfall is observed, which is why it is necessary to irrigate plants by artificial methods. We proposed to create an automated irrigation system that will improve the physiological state of plants and save resources. For this, tank water carriers are used, which are technically outdated. To develop a software solution, we presented a scheme of alleys with plants in a sanatorium in the form of a tree-like structural model. The water network management system will allow distributing water along its main, distribution and supply branches, says Professor of the Department of Information Technologies and Automated Systems of Perm Polytechnic University, Doctor of Technical Sciences, Associate Professor Sergey Kostarev |
The irrigation software circuit comprises control signals, transition states and output valves. The logical equations that scientists have created allow control over the water supply system. They contain a closed loop interlock control system. Each branch of the "tree" uses a logic circuit with switches. When a signal is received, control is also activated through the blocking branch. The irrigation is turned off by supplying a control signal to the main branches.
The researchers developed a control device based on rigid logic based on the Mili machine. As firmware, they proposed the use of a programmable logic controller Omron ON and CX-One. The scientists implemented the development on the basis of relay-contact circuits for programming an industrial controller using the open standard IEC 61131.3 (GOST R IEC 61131-3).
According to the researchers, the methods of automatic irrigation of plants have been studied since the middle of the last century, but the creation of digital devices for controlling tree-like irrigation systems is quite relevant. Scientists have simulated the operation of the system, which showed that the control of the water supply is correct. In the future, the development can be equipped with soil moisture sensors and optical monitoring of plants. This will automate the irrigation process, the researchers say.
