2021: Developing a program to find the most promising modes of power supply systems

The development of scientists at Perm Polytechnic will provide an intelligent consumption of electricity. This was announced by Politech on September 9, 2021.

Industrial plants often use autonomous power plants, but they do not always work accurately. Scientists at Perm Polytechnic have developed a program that will find the most promising modes of energy supply systems. The selection of optimal types of equipment will help to ensure its long-term and efficient operation and avoid accidents. The development was implemented with the support of the educational and research grant of the European program Erasmus + (INSPIRE project).

The researchers developed a software module that models electrical complexes as interconnected structures with complex subsystems. The methodology will make it possible to determine in advance how the complex modes of autonomous power supply systems based on gas turbine plants will function. The development will help predict their work taking into account various technological and field factors, the specifics of the energy system, territorial and geological conditions.

The idea of development appeared when specialists from one of the industrial enterprises asked us to analyze the quality of electricity in the autonomous network. The instrumental examination showed no factors that would affect the failure of the equipment. To conduct a deeper analysis, we created a model of the electrical complex, "said Dmitry Leizgold, senior lecturer at the Department of Microprocessor Automation at Perm Polytechnic.

According to scientists, an innovative approach will increase the accuracy of process modeling and help solve problems that cannot be identified with instrumental measurements. The development will improve the analysis of existing and promising equipment modes in conditions of uncertainty and insufficiency of information. For example, experts will be able to find out whether it will be effective to use a power transformer "with a margin," replacing it with a less powerful one when reducing the load.

The development will make it possible to predict the situation in case of overvoltage in the external network and will be able to give experts recommendations on the operation of the equipment. Enterprises will have the opportunity to check the system at the stage of the project in order to avoid accidents.

Unlike other models, our development takes into account non-electric parameters: equipment maintenance schedules, the results of assessing the technical condition and energy efficiency, "the scientist explained.

As of September 2021, researchers continue research and development work in the framework of cooperation with the Perm World-Class Scientific and Educational Center "Rational Subsoil Use." Mathematical models of power supply systems and software complexes of scientists of Perm Polytechnic have already been implemented at several enterprises of the Perm Territory. In particular, the module for estimating the electrical parameters of oil production facilities was tested at the Ilyichevskoye oil and gas field. The developers confirmed the effectiveness of the program in industrial settings through semi-formal models and tool surveys.
