The ReviVR neuroexercise machine developed by the Samara State Medical University (SSMU) for rehabilitation of patients after a stroke is the hardware-software complex consisting of pneumocups, the compressor unit for forcing in them of air, points of virtual reality and also a specialized software. The patient plunges into virtual environment and can see himself in vertical position, independently move.
The version of the neuroexercise machine is also developed for children with a cerebral palsy. It is the gaming platform using the system of tracking of movements Microsoft Kinect. Classes are in the form of the computer game based on exercises of physiotherapy exercises – synchronous and asynchronous moves hands, legs, squats, turns, jumps. Executing them, the child forces the animated hero to make movements on the screen: move forward, turn in directions, overcome obstacles.

Development of the neuroexercise machine for the help to patients after a stroke in life
The Ruselectronics holding of State Corporation Rostec announced on December 6, 2018 Zdrav.Expert that it together with the Samara state medical university conducts work on creation of the neuroexercise machine with VR technologies for rehabilitation of patients after a stroke, injuries and other diseases.
According to representatives of holding, Ruselectronics already supplies to the market the ReviVR neuroexercise machine for recovery of mobility of legs and ReviMotion for children with different violations of physical activity. The device will promote recovery of motive functions of hands after the had stroke, a craniocereberal injury and other diseases and also to acceleration of social adaptation.
Using VR technologies the created device submerges the patient in virtual environment and, combining visual, acoustical and tactile influence, imitates different everyday situations. In turn, it allows to reestablish neural communication due to stimulation of brain activity and to return to the person the basic skills of hands necessary in life explained in Ruselectronics.
The created complex allows to submerge the patient in the virtual world where usual living conditions are created and standard operations which each person daily performs in life are imitated. Researches prove that similar trainings of a brain help to normalize quicker physical activity and to return the patient to normal life. Developments in this sphere — the successful example of diversification showing possibilities of our science and defense industry in the civil sphere — the chief executive of Rostec Oleg Yevtushenko said. |
Work is conducted with assistance of the Ministry of science and the higher education of Russia. The project received financing in the form of a subsidy based on the tender "Accomplishment of the Application Scientific Research and Exploratory Developments Directed to Implementation of Priorities of Strategy of Scientific Technology Development of the Russian Federation". The amount of financing is not specified.
Having successful experience of creation of products for rehabilitation in virtual reality, we continue to investigate possibilities of this technology. VR rehabilitation is effective for the patients who had a stroke, but there are strong reasons to assume what with its help can be recovered patients with other nozologiya — the director of Institute of the innovative development of SAMGMU, professor of RAS Alexander Kolsanov added. |
Beginning of deliveries
The Ruselectronics holding of State Corporation Rostec announced on October 2, 2018 the beginning of delivery of the ReviVR neuroexercise machine with technology of virtual reality for medical institutions. The complex is designed to help with rehabilitation of the patients who had a stroke, injuries of a spinal cord and a number of diseases. The cost of the exercise machine is about 1.5 million rubles.
The ReviVR neuroexercise machine submerges the patient with violation of motive function in virtual environment and, combining visual, acoustical and tactile influence, imitates walking process. Due to stimulation of brain activity neural communication is reestablished, the person "gets used" to vertical position that favorably affects the patient's status, explained in holding.
We predict high demand on ReviVR not only in Russia, but also abroad where the cost of analogs is much higher — the chief executive of Rostec Oleg Yevtushenko noted. |
The ReviVR complex is created by the Samara state medical university (SAMGMU) in cooperation with specialists of IMTs of Vega concern (enters into Ruselectronics holding of State Corporation Rostec). The device became the first development of medical school transferred to serial production of large Russian corporation.
The ReviVR exercise machine was clinically tested on patients in the sharp period after a stroke — within 48 hours after the recorded fact of violation of brain blood circulation. Based on tests of balance of Berg the patients who completed a rehabilitation course on the exercise machine in a hospital improved indicators of physical activity twice — professor of RAS, the director of Institute of the innovative development, the head of the department of operational surgery and clinical anatomy of SAMGMU Alexander Kolsanov told. — Occupations on the exercise machine are shown not only to the patients who had a stroke but also at craniocereberal injuries, injuries of a spinal cord, at multiple sclerosis and Parkinson's disease. |
Beginning of production
On March 28, 2018 the Ruselectronics holding entering into Rostec announced start of serial production of ReviVR neuroexercise machines for rehabilitation of the patients who had a stroke and also game neuroexercise machines for children with a cerebral palsy.
The mass release of the equipment will be organized based on the Moscow JSC Engineering Marketing Center of Concern Vega and the Samara State Medical University (SSMU).
By the end of March, 2018 exercise machines pass clinical trials in different medical institutions – the Samara regional clinical hospital of V.D. Seredavin, the regional rehabilitation center "Samarsky", city hospital No. 31 of the city of Moscow, the Moscow city hospital of brothers Bakhrushinykh and also based on the Samara regional rehabilitation center for children and teenagers.
According to the Ministry of Health of the Russian Federation, every year about 500 thousand Russians endure a stroke.[1]
