2019: Representation of the server on SOS processors
On June 18, 2019 the Ricore company announced development of the server of initial level on System-on-Chip processors.
According to representatives of Ricore, the servers developed by the company on SOS-processors for maintenance of the working capacity and operation require investments many times less, than standard solutions based on processors Intel Xeon. Thanks to it the problem of development of the centers of processing data (DPC) in the conditions of the restrictions connected with energy consumption and the occupied space is in a complex solved. In many DPCs the limits of energy consumption are almost completely reached, there is a deficit of the free areas, and requirements to performance, efficiency and scaling of systems constantly grow.
Similar solutions, due to placement of all necessary elements in 1 chip, have modest overall dimensions, low power consumption and, as a result, the lowered selection by heat chips that also allows to save on cooling of server racks.
The complex of these factors leads to significant decrease in capital and operating costs for the account:
- Low cost of the purchased equipment;
- A large number of servers on a rack and economy on squares:
- in 3U the chassis is placed 28 SoC-servers,
- in 42U a rack 196 SoC-servers are placed.
- The minimum energy consumption of racks reduces costs for the electric power by 8 times in comparison with standard solutions;
- The minimum requirements to cooling of a rack reduce the number of the cooling equipment.
By estimates of representatives of Ricore, it reduces costs at 10-14 times in comparison with traditional solutions, i.e. about 6,000,000 rub a year on one rack v42 the Unit give economy at the equal number of server capacities.
These indicators are reached not only due to use of SoC-processors with a high rate of performance per watt, it is also important that construction of the body is designed with a low resistance to an air flow that provides high air permeability, and the cable-free design gives an opportunity of fast replacement of Hot Rep and good circulation of air flows.
After carrying out a number of researches and tests the circle of tasks in which these servers have advantages over standard solutions is defined. Thanks to the architecture servers cope with such tasks as:
- Servers of the distributed DBMS and processing of incoming requests of IoT
- Service cloud, mail and web services (front-end)
- Parallel computings
- Electronic document management
- E-commerce
- Organization of virtual work places (VDI)
- Servers 1C for small enterprises
For June, 2019 servers on SoC-processors are available in warehouses in Moscow, are ready to testing and implementation.
