2023: Creation of a multifunctional 3D prototyping center Q-fab

ROBBO has created a multifunctional 3D prototyping center Q-fab. Tests of the device confirmed that it is completely safe for children. The company announced this on December 26, 2023.

This Q-fab 3D prototyping center was developed by ROBBO specialists during the year. The first batch of equipment was manufactured in December 2023. As of December 2023, the devices have already been delivered and are being used by two companies. By the end of 2023, it is planned to supply Q-fab to two other organizations. In total, ROBBO will manufacture 30 devices during the first half of 2024.

Q-fab is a multifunctional prototyping center of Russian production, which is suitable for teaching children in the framework of basic, general, additional education, as well as project activities of high school students, universities and master classes.

It allows you to design and manufacture volumetric models of robots and spare parts for them. With it, you can create both metal and wooden products by 3D printing and milling and apply laser engraving on them. It allows you to learn engineering programs such as Reparhost, FreeCAD and Inkscape.

The main quality of Q-fab is advanced capabilities. The device is equipped with extruders for melting and mixing plastic, an air-cooled spindle for machining parts and a laser module. It is also equipped with a closed thermal chamber to support optimal temperature and quiet drivers that ensure its silent operation.

It has two lasers instead of one and a powerful milling machine. It easily switches from one tool to another, as it automatically detects it and switches to the desired mode.

The Q-fab is also distinguished by an improved body. It features a colour touchscreen display and has a modern design. It is characterized by smoothed corners and some other features.

In addition, Q-fab can read information from flash cards and connect to a computer via Wi-Fi. It does not require constant connection to the computer. The built-in Raspberry Pi minicomputer with a Web camera allows you to remotely control the device. Finished parts can be conveniently placed on a heated desktop with a large area.

Q-fab combines 3 functions: 3D printing, milling cutting and laser engraving. It has great capabilities and therefore allows children to understand several methods of processing materials at once, while usually they need at least two devices for this. He also helps students learn the basics of robotics, electronics and prepare, for example, to work with machines with numerical program control - said Pavel Frolov, founder and producer of ROBBO.

Thanks to Q-fab, children can acquire the skills and knowledge necessary to participate in competitions in 3D modeling, industrial design, production of their own devices, robotics competitions and various olympiads.

Equally important is that Q-fab is completely safe for them. Its design is so thought out that even with the awkward use of the device, children will not be able to get abrasions when creating products, "said Pavel Frolov, founder and producer of ROBBO.
