2023: Introducing the Counter-Battery Warfare System

Holding "Roselectronics" and "High-precision complexes" of the State Corporation Rostec together with Rosoboronexport on August 15, 2023 presented a promising system of counter-battery struggle. It allows you to detect enemy artillery positions at a distance of up to 38 km, determine their exact coordinates, and then use automated fire control tools to ensure their defeat as soon as possible.

The technical solution includes the Penicillin automated artillery complex of sound and thermal reconnaissance and the Tablet-A artillery fire control complex. Any artillery systems and RZSOs in service can be used as weapons in the complex.

The Penicillin complex developed by the Vector Research Institute, part of Roselectronics, is designed to reconnaissance the firing positions of artillery pieces, mortars, MLRS, anti-aircraft and tactical missiles. Unlike such systems, the complex does not work on the principles of radar, but combining thermal and sound reconnaissance, which makes its electronic suppression impossible.

"Penicillin" captures acoustic and thermal signals from artillery rounds and shell bursts, and then applies them to an electronic map. Associated with Penicillin, the Tablet-A artillery fire control complex developed by the Signal All-Russian Research Institute (part of the High-Precision Complexes) processes the received data, calculates the firing installations and transfers them to the gun commanders for subsequent suppression of enemy artillery. Average time for determination of target coordinates and control cycle is not more than a minute.

"Tablet-A" can control the firing of almost all artillery systems in service and the entire range of ammunition. The product adapts to any artillery unit, including a mixed type. "Tablet - A" provides operational control and maintenance of countercurrent warfare, minimizes the time from receiving target designation to hitting the object, - said Vladimir Pimenov, General Director of VNII Signal JSC.

"Timely detection of the enemy and prompt transmission of data for fire destruction of targets is the key to achieving fire superiority. The use of coupled reconnaissance and control systems for an artillery unit in real time significantly increases the capabilities of artillery units, "said Sergei Skorykh, General Director of the Vector Research Institute.
