SAP Anywhere — the complete solution released in October, 2015 for business organization of small firms (from 10 to 500 people) and home offices. The systems of e-commerce, management of customer relation (CRM), control of orders, managements of delivery and stocks of goods enter it. Besides, functions of marketing promotion of products on social networks are implemented.

2018: Project closure

In March, 2018 the The Register edition announced SAP Anywhere closing, referring to the letter which the producer sent to the clients. The German company confirmed this information.

The representative of SAP in a conversation with CRN reported that SAP Anywhere has only about 30 clients who after turning of a product will be able to use new solutions, such as SAP Business One or SAP Business ByDesign.

We will satisfy completely terms of the contract with any client. As soon as the term of its action comes to the end, we will propose to customers other solution which they will want to use — the employee of SAP reported, having added that duration of the agreement depends on the client.

SAP displaces a failure CRM cloud of Anywhere

SAP Anywhere was the failure project. Besides that only three tens companies became interested in it, most of them (about 25-27) do not use service already any time. In case of lack of activity within 30 days, the client will receive from the SAP notification on agreement cancelation with return of payment for a subscription. The producer will work with the companies which still use SAP Anywhere directly what already notified partners on.

SAP noted that there is not a lot of partners in SAP Anywhere. The main thing among them is the Chinese operator China Telecom.

Allen Falcon, the head of Cumulus Global company (renders to the small companies consulting services on use of cloud services), says that the failure of SAP Anywhere shows that even large vendors risk to leave the market if they go beyond the core competency.

SAP is a player in the field of medium and large business with the same channel. It is what they do. This heart of their business. You do not order fish in a steykhaus because you know that this fish will not be freshen. Steykhaus is not fish restaurant. Buying a product, you need to compare it with core competencies of the producer and its markets. It ruled fairly also for cloud and not cloud products — Falkon reported.

According to him, expenses on transition from such product as SAP Anywhere, can make from several thousand to tens of thousands of dollars depending on type of migration and applications with which service was integrated. Most likely, the small companies I will look narrowly at alternative solutions, like NetSuite or [[Microsoft Dynamics] of CRM|Microsoft Dynamics]], he considers.

The head of one of the companies suppliers of IT solutions as anonymity told CRN that SAP, trying to gain a foothold in the sector of small business, went beyond the professional skills therefore it is better for producer to create separate company for development and promotion of the products similar to SAP Anywhere.

SAP urged not to dramatize concerning project closure of Anywhere and noted that from time to time the company reviews the product portfolio and makes corrections, based on the general cloud ERP strategy.
