Smart Engines scientists have found a way to stop AI and patented their technology in the US. The company announced this on November 21, 2023.

Scientists have proposed making a decision to stop AI not on the basis of those already received, but data on the basis of a forecast of the future, when the next piece of data has not yet been received. This method is relevant primarily for solving the problem of text recognition in a video stream. However, the principles of its operation can be used in other real-time AI systems - for example, computer vision for unmanned systems. Proprietary Smart Engines technology, patented in the United States thus receiving the fifth for American patent its development in 2023.

Smart Engines specialists have learned to predict the result of recognition of the next frame and, if it does not allow improving the current recognition result, then a decision is made not to continue processing further. The invention described in the patent made it possible to speed up the decision to stop AI tenfold. Thanks to this, the process of recognizing documents on mobile devices is faster and more accurate. In addition, the development allows you not to waste unnecessary computing resources and save battery power on the device.

Since the founding of the company, we have adhered to the Science First principle and, solving business problems, work at the forefront of science. During this year, we received five patents only in the United States, but we do not intend to stop. We have many other interesting technologies on patenting, which - as soon as we receive patents - we will definitely tell you, - said the CEO of Smart Engines, Doctor of Technical Sciences Vladimir Arlazarov.

It patents its Smart Engines developments in Russia. In 2023, the company received 15 patents for inventions in the Russian Federation.

Patented AI-based development has already been implemented in all the company's software products. With its help, as of November 2023, more than 50 million QR codes and bank cards for making payments, millions of passports and other documents in remote and field service processes are read monthly in Russia. Smart Engines technologies are used by 10 out of 13 systemically important banks of the Russian Federation.
