The Unified Judicial Information and Telecommunication System (ECITS) in Ukraine is defined as a set of information and telecommunication subsystems that provide automation of judicial processes, including general and procedural documentation, consideration of court cases, compilation of operational and analytical reports, provision of information assistance to judges, as well as processes providing financial, property, organizational, personnel, information and telecommunication, etc.
2021: Ukraine approves law on electronic courts
At the end of April 2021 Verkhovna Rada , she approved the bill Uniform judicial on the information and telecommunications system (ECITS). According to reports, Mintsifra Ukraine this initiative has become one of the main steps towards the introduction of electronic legal proceedings in the country. The system is designed to create, collect, store, search, process and transfer materials and information in criminal proceedings.
According to the bill, all courts of Ukraine will have to accept procedural documents from citizens, state bodies and business online, through the e-court subsystem.
A unified judicial information and telecommunications system will allow remote communication between the court and participants in the trial by exchanging procedural documents in electronic form and will allow citizens to go to court and take part in court cases online.
Investigators, interrogators, prosecutors, investigating judges, the court, defenders and other participants in criminal proceedings will be able to use the system to exercise their powers, rights and interests.
Documents signed and agreed by electronic signature in the system and their copies in electronic and paper form will be recognized as originals.[1]
