On August 14, 2023, the company Xiaomi announced the flagship foldable smartphone Mix Fold 3 running operating system Android 13 with the proprietary MIUI Fold 14 add-on.

The apparatus received an improved articulated joint containing 198 components. It is claimed to withstand 500,000 flexion/extension cycles. In addition, the smartphone can be opened at an angle of 45-135 degrees, receiving something like a miniature laptop. The thickness of the case in the expanded state is 5.26 mm, in the folded state - 10.89 mm.

The main internal display of the OLED Plus Samsung E6 2K format has a diagonal of 8.03 inches, has a resolution of 2160 × 1916 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a peak brightness of 2600 nits. On the outside is a 6.56-inch E6 AMOLED screen with a resolution of 2520 × 1080 pixels, a refresh rate of 120 Hz and a brightness of up to 1300 nits.

The quad rear camera combines a 50-megapixel Sony IMX800 sensor with optical stabilization, a 13-megapixel OV13B10 sensor with wide-angle optics (120 degrees), a 10-megapixel Samsung S5K3K1 telephoto module and a 10-megapixel Samsung S5K3K1 unit with 5x zoom. Additionally, there is a 20-megapixel front camera with a OV20B sensor.

Based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor with eight cores (up to 3.36 GHz) and an Adreno 730 graphics accelerator. The amount of RAM can LPPDDR5X be 12 or 16 GB. The capacity of the flash drive is 256 and 512 GB, as well as 1 TB. The equipment includes Wi-Fi 6E 802.11ax and Bluetooth 5.3 adapters, GPS receiver (L1 + L5), USB Type-C 3.2 Gen 1 port and NFC controller. Responsible for power supply is a 4800 mA·ch battery with support for 67-W wired and 50-W wireless charging. The price of the Mix Fold 3 smartphone starts at $1240.^[1]

2022: Mix Fold 2 model announcement

On August 11, 2022, Xiaomi introduced a new foldable smartphone - Mix Fold 2. It is equipped with two displays: the main LTPO has a diagonal of 8.02 inches at a resolution of 2160x1914 pixels and a frequency of 120 Hz is Samsung's OLED Eco2 panel, and the size of the external inflexible AMOLED is 6.56 inches at a resolution of 2520x1080 pixels, the same 120 Hz frequency and Gorilla Glass Victor protective coating. Both screens support Dolby Vision and HDR10 +, and their brightness is 1000 cd/m2.

Mix Fold 2 is positioned by the manufacturer as the thinnest foldable smartphone - when unfolded, its thickness is only 5.4 mm, when closed - 11.2 mm. This thickness was achieved, among other things, due to the hinge, which is made in the form of a microdroplet.

On the back of the Xiaomi Mix Fold 2 is a camera from Leica. It has three lenses with a resolution of 50, 13 and 8 megapixels with proprietary modes Authentic and Vibrant. On the front is an 8-megapixel selfie camera. In early July, Xiaomi unveiled the 12S Ultra phone, which also came out with a camera from Leica.

Xiaomi has adapted all system applications for the big screen to MIX Fold 2, which supports quick split of the screen with three fingers, several small windows and other functions. The hardware base is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 + Gen 1 processor.

At the time of the announcement of the smartphone, the following prices for it were named:

2021: Announcement of the folding smartphone Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold

On March 30, 2021, Xiaomi unveiled its first bendable smartphone. The model is called Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold.

The flexible AMOLED screen folded inside the case has a diagonal of 8.01 inches, a resolution of 2480 × 1860 pixels and a pixel density of 387 PPI (dots per inch). Support for Dolby Vision and HDR10 + is announced, and the brightness reaches 600 cd/m2.

When folded, the front part has an auxiliary external display with a diagonal of 6.52 inches. The resolution of this screen is 2520 × 840 pixels, the refresh rate is 90 Hz, the brightness is 700 cd/m2.

The device is equipped with a 5,000 mAh battery with support for 67 W fast charging. The flagship 5nm mobile processor Qualcomm Snapdragon 888 is responsible for performance. The single-chip system has Adreno 660 graphics, and the core frequency is from 1.8 GHz to 2.84 GHz.

The camera Block includes a main module with a Samsung ISOCELL HM2 sensor with a resolution of 108 megapixels, an ultra-wide 13 megapixel lens, and there is also a telephoto module combined with a macro camera. The "liquid" lens allows you to quickly focus on objects. At the same time, due to its changing shape, the depth of the sharply depicted space is much wider than that of a conventional lens. The front camera is 20-megapixel.

The smartphone is endowed with 12 GB of LPPDDR5 RAM and a built-in UFS 3.1 flash drive of 256 or 512 GB, depending on the version. The MIUI 12 operating system based on Android 11 is responsible for the software component.

Comparison of Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold with competitors

Xiaomi Mi Mix Fold will go on sale on April 16, 2021. In the Chinese market, the device will cost from 10 thousand yuan (about $1,521 at the exchange rate as of March 30) to 13 thousand yuan ($1977). The availability of the product in Russia by March 30 is not reported.^[3]
