2024: YandexGPT implementation in online text document editor

Yandex December 11, 2024 presented updated online editors of text documents and tables. Due to the use of Yandex solutions, editors are faster and more productive than old ones. The YandexGPT 4 neural network helps to work on documents in a text editor. It can create text from scratch - just describe your wishes - or edit what has already been written: for example, correct errors and make the text more formal or, conversely, easier. She can also be instructed to shorten a long document, leaving only the most important thing. YandexGPT is capable of performing all these actions with texts in both Russian and English.

We launched editors in beta status so that users can evaluate their performance and try the updated interface. Editors lack a number of features, but we are working to make them appear as quickly as possible. For example, the ability to comment on documents will become available in the near future. So far, we are only at the beginning of the journey, but the transition to Yandex's own developments gives us a gain in flexibility and performance, allows us to quickly implement updates, and also opens up new opportunities for using neural network technologies at home, at work and in school, "said Sergey Pedchenko, head of the Yandex 360 technological development group.

Editors are included in the Documents service. To try the beta version, you need to go to Documents and activate the "New Editor" switch on the top panel.

While editors are available only in the web interface. In 2025, Yandex B2B Tech, Yandex's business technology division, plans to release a desktop version of it. Yandex 360 customers for business will have the opportunity to use Documents in on-premium mode - that is, deploy an office suite on their own servers. This will come in handy for companies that have particularly stringent data security policies.

2021: Launch of Document Collaboration Service

On April 26, 2021, Yandex announced the launch of a service for working with documents, spreadsheets and presentations. This competitor Google Docs was called Yandex.Docs. Now Yandex users can not only send documents to Mail and store them on Disk, but also edit them.

Yandex claims that the service is suitable for collaboration when editing contracts, maintaining a customer base or preparing a presentation. Moreover, you can connect colleagues to work, even if they do not have a Yandex account - simply by sending a link. The history of changes for each file is also supported so that it can be returned to one of the previous versions - for example, if the wrong paragraph is accidentally deleted.

Yandex.Docs service

Yandex.Docs supports docx, xlsx and pptx format files and can convert older versions to them. The service first shows the files that were opened last. Users can sort files by name or size. The most necessary of them can be fixed.
