2024: Adding Community and Business fares
Yandex Cloud has expanded the platform's data capabilities. The provider launched the metadata management service Yandex MetaData Hub, added capabilities to the BI analytics service Yandex DataLens, increased database security and more. The company announced this on March 20, 2024.
Yandex DataLens BI analytics service has two tariffs: Community and Business. As part of the Community tariff, all basic functions of the service will be available for free, including fast cross-filtering by charts. Users will be able to filter the entire dashboard by click on one graph, which will speed up data analytics in the service several times. Business tariff users now have priority support with SLA (Service Level Agreement), and it also becomes possible to safely embed their dashboards into external systems, for example, CRM, use corporate accounts for access and track service usage statistics. In addition, UI branding has appeared in the Business tariff. Companies will be able to change the colors of dashboards, add corporate logos in the Yandex DataLens interface. Read more here.
2023: DataLens Source Code Discovery
At the end of September 2023, Yandex made public the source code of the DataLens data analysis and visualization system. Most Yandex services and external companies in the cloud infrastructure work with this BI platform, the company noted.
According to Yandex, now anyone can use the open source version of the service (the source code of the software that is available to all users), having modified it independently for their project. DataLens source code and documentation are available on GitHub[1], the code is distributed under the Apache 2.0 license.
The company said that the system is suitable for solving "a wide range of data analysis and visualization tasks." In particular, using DataLens, you can collect dashboards to monitor the company's key business metrics and provide collective access to analytics.
For example, Renaissance Insurance uses the cloud version of DataLens as the main tool for visualizing corporate data for various departments: from IT to Customer and Sales. Retailer Magnit uses DataLens in the cloud to analyze the effectiveness of digital products - for example, loyalty and delivery systems, Yandex explained.
Entering open source is an important step in the development of DataLens and another contribution to the development of open source from the Yandex Cloud team. The BI system is a corporate standard in Yandex and beyond. We are confident that openness will speed up the development of the product, expand application scenarios, and also attract new contributors, "said Grigory Atrepyev, Product Director of Yandex Cloud.[2] |
2020: Access to analysis of data on self-isolation and coronavirus
On April 16, 2020, Yandex.Cloud reported that its platform has access to a tool for working with data on the spread of coronavirus and the self-isolation index.
With the help of Yandex DataLens technology for data visualization and analysis, information from three sources has been collected into a single information and analytical panel (dashboard): Rospotrebnadzor statistics on the number of infections, recoveries and deaths in Russia, similar data on the world from Johns Hopkins University, as well as the self-isolation index according to Yandex services.
The Yandex DataLens cloud service allows you to work flexibly with data: load, combine, instantly make visual visualizations - graphs, charts, tables, as well as overlay indicators on the map. In addition to the data that Yandex.Cloud provides, users can connect their own sources. The results obtained can be shared with colleagues or published in the public domain on any external sites.
{{quote 'author = commented Oleg Koverznev, Business Development Director Yandex.Clouds' Yandex DataLens can help in the work of medical institutions, government agencies, research organizations - wherever you need up-to-date and visual information to make timely decisions and research the situation. In fact, DataLens is changing the very approach to dealing with important data, making it more transparent and accessible, }}
All data is updated in real time - as soon as information appears in the sources, it becomes available in Yandex DataLens. Data on the spread of coronavirus in Russia are available in detail by region. For the self-isolation index, a historical section of the average daily values for cities from February 23, 2020, as well as the most current clock data for the last day, is presented.
2019: Yandex DataLens service launch
On April 4, 2019, it became known that the company Yandex"" launched on its cloudy platform "" Yandex region a service for business analysts Yandex DataLens, which allows you to create analytical reports and user interfaces for working with (data dashboards), providing them with a third-party. access
Representatives of Yandex noted that the company previously had a public analytical tool: Yandex.metrics - to study the attendance of Internet sites. However, DataLens is fundamentally different from it. According to the developer, DataLens is a data visualization and analysis service with the ability to connect various data sources outside the services of Yandex itself, which is available to external users. The service is based on the Yandex Stat product - Yandex's internal analytical reporting system. At the start, you can use DataLens for free. As of April 2019, access to the service is provided upon request for connection in Yandex.Cloud.
Yandex representatives told CNews that the company has plans to commercially use the product in question in the future, although they did not specify exactly when access to it could become paid.
"We make a service that combines the functional merits of enterprise solutions, but will still be available to even the smallest companies, thanks to its simplicity and low entry threshold." |
According to the developer, in Yandex DataLens you can analyze data from different sources - using the so-called built-in connectors, connect relational databases and Yandex.metrics APIs to the system, download files. The data can be presented in the form of graphs, diagrams and tables and combined on one dashboard. For example, sales indicators from the internal CRM system can be compared with reports on advertising campaigns from Yandex.metrics. DataLens users can share visualization results with colleagues or partners by giving them access to dashboards, and enable automatic uploading of frequently used data to speed up work.
"The promising directions that we are focusing on are the increase in various data sources (in addition to those that can already be connected to Yandex DataLens), new types of visualization, the ability to create public dashboards. We are also considering the possibility of developing a marketplace with presets: data, connectors, dashboards. During the preview stage, we will define the priorities finally. In terms of quality - data processing speed, usability - we strive for the level of services of Google and Microsoft, in particular Data Studio and Power BI. In the future, we set ourselves the task of becoming the most accessible and convenient data visualization system in Russia. " Yandex representative |
