2022: Modular Garden Robot Announcement
In mid-September 2022, it is presented, modular robot Yarbo which can take care of both grass and snow, as well as blow away dead leaves and other garbage.
The Yarbo consists of a motorized base unit on rubber tracks that can be equipped with any of three specific modules. The lawn mower module is equipped with two rotating knives located next to each other, which provides an adjustable grass mowing width of up to 508 mm. Users can also adjust the haircut height between 30 and 102 mm.
The snow blower module features a powered auger that sucks dry, wet or compacted snow up to 305 mm deep, and an impeller that ejects snow from the chute with an adjustable direction from above. The snow grip width is 533 mm and Yarbo can throw snow in either direction for a distance of 1.8 to 12.2 m. The blower module is equipped with a fan nozzle located under the bottom, which provides leaf blowing at speeds up to 192 km/h. The volume and speed of the air can be adjusted using a companion application.
All three modules feature millimeter wave radar and a camera that allow them (and the robot) to detect and avoid obstacles. Yarbo orients itself within a predetermined mowing/blowing zone using GPS, plus the device determines which path to follow to cover this zone most efficiently. That's what he doesn't need perimeter wires or beacons like some other lawn mower robots.
Yarbo can also traverse slopes up to 68% sloping and automatically returns to the docking station once the work is complete. The battery operates at temperatures up to - 30º C, in addition, it can be removed from the robot and used independently as a portable power plant. According to the developers, one 2-hour charge lasts for two hours of mowing, 90 minutes of snow removal (with a snow height of 127 mm) or 50 minutes of leaf harvesting.
The price of the Yarbo robot with a lawn mower module ranges from $2,599 (estimated retail price $4,399) to $3,699 for a robot with all three modules (retail price $6,999). Provided that the robot is put into production, deliveries should begin in December 2022. It is planned that other modules will be offered in the future, such as a sweeper, a sprinkler and a snowplow.[1]
