2024: Creating# NO BALANCE SOFTWARE

Auchan Tech independently developed and implemented its own# NObalance software in 94 hypermarkets of the network as part of the autonomy program. The software is aimed at combating food waste as part of the sustainable development strategy of AUCHAN Retail Russia. The chain of stores announced this on October 15, 2024.

Customers help reduce product write-offs and waste by purchasing high-quality products that expire at a discount. This opportunity has appeared in all AUCHAN hypermarkets since August 2022. Already in 2023, thanks to it, it was possible to "save" more than 12.5 thousand tons of products and avoid almost 31.4 thousand tons of additional emissions CO2 generated during the disposal of expired products.

The# NObalance software allows you to markdown specific items with a suitable shelf life. These are gastronomy, dairy products, bread, meat, poultry, packaged fish and other products. In addition, the software, together with the auto-order function, makes it possible to automatically adapt the volume of orders to the needs of a particular store.

As of October 2024, the discount on goods is fixed and is 40%. Soon the software will be expanded, and the benefit for customers will become differentiated from 30% to 60% for each item number in each store of ASHAN Retail Russia, depending on the timing, level of sales and other factors.

Plus,# NO balance in that the program can adapt and expand its functionality to the needs of the business, for example, automate storage period control and help store employees search for products with an appropriate shelf life.

The software is based on Open Source solutions using technologies such as Java, Kafka, Airflow, Gravitee from the PostgreSQL database. Development took place in several stages. You have created assortment management, label printing management, and write-off modules.# WITHOUT a balance works on data collection terminals, which are used by store employees every day in their work. The teams of corporate architecture and software development, analysis and design of business processes, as well as the group of the IS development department of commerce and finance for 6 months worked on the creation of software.# WITHOUT balance consists of three parts: mobile, server and web (administration panel) and four modules: assortment, sticker, write-off and discount calculation. All hypermarkets of AUCHAN Retail Russia were connected to the system in one day. Work on connecting stores continues, - commented Vera Emrot, General Director of AUCHAN TE.

It is planned that since December, absolutely all AUCHAN Retail Russia stores, and these are 230 outlets, will connect to the# NObalance software. The decision will save more than 80 million rubles a year - this is how much the subscription fee for using similar foreign software was.
