Tele2 and Administration of the Volgograd region signed the agreement on cooperation

2020: Agreement signature for the purpose of development of telecommunication infrastructure

Tele2, the alternative mobile operator, and the government of the Volgograd region signed the agreement on interaction in the field of digitalization of economy and development of telecommunication infrastructure of the region. On September 3, 2020 Tele2 reported about it. The operator expressed readiness to take part in projects on development of LTE-450 network for public services, digital infrastructure of the region using technologies 5G, the "smart" city and also digital services for needs of agro-industrial complex.

The agreement was signed by the CEO of Tele2 Sergey Emdin and the governor of the Volgograd region Andrei Bocharov. The cooperation purpose – interaction of the operator and regional government in the field of development of information and telecommunication infrastructure of the region, including in the small and remote localities. Besides, the company will actively participate in implementation of the state program "Digital economy of Russia" in the territory of the area and to promote start of digital services, convenient for the population.

Among potential points there are interactions of the regional government and the mobile operator the project of digitalization of municipal economy "Smart city" is considered. He turns on distribution of technology of Internet of Things (NB-IoT), development of the standard of communication of LTE-450 for needs of the emergency and customer services, projects on automation of agro-industrial complex. In addition, joint projects on use of analytics of Big Data, creation of virtual telecom operators on infrastructure of Tele2 and implementation of the systems of ecological online monitoring are possible.

Also at selection of priority radio-frequency range the operator will develop infrastructure for implementation of a 5G in the region, including – to create networks of the closed circuit in the territory of organizations and the enterprises of area.

The signed agreement solves an important social problem as it provides conditions for expansion of digital space and availability of services. During a pandemic often mobile communication was the only way of communication with the outside world. It turned out that many issues can be resolved online, and after lifting of restrictions this format of communication remained with us. It strengthens a role of telecommunications in social and economic development. Collaboration of business and the power in improvement of infrastructure will positively affect life of the population of the region and convenience of use of digital services.

2019: 750 million rubles of investments into network infrastructure from Tele2

In 2019 Tele2 invested 750 million rubles in network infrastructure of the Volgograd region. The operator practically made even coverages 4G and a voice communication: the mobile Internet is available to 97% of residents of the Volgograd region, 99.5% of the population of the region live in a zone of a voice covering.
